Well, I got the kit re-installed today this time using the black box "whatsits" above. I drove to the pizza place and drove back home with the lights on... probably 20-30 minutes of total driving so far and I have not yet heard the switch crackle or experienced lighting issues. HOWEVER... one thing that concerned me... On my way TO the pizza place, the headlamp out indicator was not lit, nor did it light up during the installation process. On the way back FROM the pizza place the headlamps out indicator WAS lit however.

I know that it is very likely for that indicator to light up with these HID installs, but I'm not sure if it is normal for it to be intermittent or what that might indicate.

I guess we'll see what happens from here...

Ian.

Ian.
I have HID's also (installed by Maxcichon) and have had no problems although after turning them off my lamp out indicator does come on but will then go back off after about 10 minutes have passed.
I wouldn't be concerned about this and I have had mine now for 8 months.

Is it not correct that the "light out" indicator comes on when one or both of the HID bulbs fail to light ignite when the headlights are turned on? Thats what I learned from a knowledgeable source (Beaner) when bluecoupes light did not come on onetime. The light went out when the lamps were turned off and on again and both bulbs lit up.

They're both definitely on and the indicator light is pretty much permanently on now anytime the car is running. When the car is off and I turn on the headlights, the indicator doesn't light, but we went out for about an hour and drove around tonight and it was permanently on during driving and running.

It doesn't bother me at all... in fact I just have to reprogram myself to just see it as a "headlamps on" indicator, just wondering if it means I broke something again lol.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Dumb Question: Are you sure you do not another light out? A bad brake light will only show up after hitting the brake pedal. I had a license plate light go out and the indicator only worked about 50 percent of the time.

Hmm, I'll check again. The rear driver's side marker lamp on the bumper WAS out a few weeks ago and smacking the bumper with my hand actually caused it to light up again (I swear... this car). I had not had any problems with it since then and would find it EXTREMELY coincidental that it would have gone out again right when I did this install, but I suppose stranger things have happened!

Also, if you install any LED's that are on the exterior of the CF then the indicator will be lit. Just another tidbit.

I was just flaming you a little bit for answering a 2 year-old question.

You actually graduated from "that other place"? Well, the scenery must be better, anyhow...

Well, I guess I deserve that flame...I was just scouring the forums since I am about to install some HIDs/LEDs and replied before I really saw how old this thread was....

And if by "scenery" you mean what I think you're meaning...then yes, it is much better...especially in the warmer months...
