Isn't that what tail light's and the following parties headlights are for?

Interesting nonetheless.

Thirteendog, I always look for ways to make my cars stand out of the crowd and something to get extra points at car shows. True that I most likely would NOT take my XF out in inclement weather but its kinda cool to have it anyways . I can understand your point too as I often wonder why 4 door boaty cars with FWD have rrear spoilers on them!

I think you mis understood what I was saying. I wasn't critisizing your rear fog light, I was just questioning, since they're pretty standard in Europe, what the purpose was in general. Not the reason why you put one on your car.

Call me confused, but how is the rear fog lamp dealt with in the UK and Ireland? Seems a rear fog lamp on the left side of the vehicle would point a following car to the ditch.

No diced on that. The R171 moved to a different electronics system and the lighting is no longer handled by it's own wiring network. It has been tied in with the SAM modules now. Sure would be a nice way to integrate auto headlamps as well but alas it wasn't mean to be.

I know this is a reply to an old post, but I was intereseted to see that someone else wanted to activate the rear fog light.
My question is : any reason you couldn't use the dashboard headlight switch from an SLK to replace the Crossfire switch, and basically use all the SLK parts up to the tail light? Also, has anyone succeeded in finding a Euro left tail light to use?
thanks
