I had an accident and need to have front bumper cover replaced. The body shop called and said they couldn't locate part, not even from dealership.

 

10 on national back order. Maybe have them check the bone yards...

I've used several of the services out there that search the "bone yards" for parts. Last time I used one was when trying to find a replacement left taillight assembly. Got 10 replies and 3 phone calls within 24 hours. Normally, I would have bought a part from one of these salvage yards, but found a new taillight assembly on eBay from a NC CDJ dealer for practically the same price I was getting quoted from the "bone yards".

Another option is having your local CDJ dealer run a nationwide inventory search for parts. XFires probably aren't old enough yet, but nearly every dealer is interested in getting rid of slow moving parts inventory. Now a part the size of a bumper may not be laying around anywhere, but you'll never know until you ask. When I had my Merkur XR4Ti's, the local FLM dealers would run this report for me and help me locate quite a few parts that were listed as obsolete or nor longer available. Puchased most items at considerable discount (dealer's cost) just because the dealer with the item wanted to get rid of it.

By the way, I've never met a salvage yard owner yet that wasn't loaded! There's "gold" in them thar wrecks!

 

My parts guy did a national search for the part several different ways... NONE. Living in Ohio, Chrysler closing down their warehouse in Detroit did not help matters.

I saw a few post dated back to July indicating other site members have been experiencing the same parts search problem. Who would have thought all this from a fender bender. Thanks for the quick responses.
