It wasn't the polishing compound that spattered; it was from the wet foam 3rd-stage fine sanding disc. No worries for me, though...... the headlights were the first step in my mid-summer detailing which always includes every bit of the engine bay to show-room lustre. For me, that task is never a chore. The finished lenses look absolutely brilliant.....

Wow, I am going to have to do this. Should be easy with my headlight assembly on my tool box.

Not really, unless you have a partner to hold it in place. There is no 'safe' way to secure it without the chance of breaking one or both lower mounting tabs ( they are VERY fragile ).
It is actually easier to leave them in the car and mask off around them.

They are already off the car... I could put them back in and do this if I feel up to it.

If anyone else wants to do this, I have the kit unused that I can sell... I bought it but then just had the body shop clean up my headlights when they were painting stuff for me...

My experience was very good !!
I used the kit to restore the headlights on my 2010 Ford Edge
The results were very impressive

I have begun to use McGuires UV spray for headlights, seems that they suggest annual applications to protect the naked lens after polishing. Woody

I read mixed reviews about that product....
**Some said it's difficult to apply an even coating
because it is a spray on application.
**Some said it became cloudy after a short time and they ended up restoring the lights again to remove the product

I value your feedback because I certainly do want to apply a UV protection right away
Also have you had success with any other UV protection products that can be applied with a micro fiber towel ??

I use ‘Meguiars Headlight Protectant’ and apply it with a microfibre towel, but I have never had to refinish my lenses. It does no harm anyway.

I figure it is far easier to keep the headlights polished on a regular basis after a restore using the 3M kit than applying any new type of spray-on sealant/protectant on top after a restore that could just create more problems down the road. I've read the reviews of various after-market spray-on and let-dry protectants to use after a restoration and there are quite a few horror stories. I just hit them again every 6 months or so with a basic light headlight restorer rubbing compound that I can do with an old piece of towel by hand (or even use the old foam pad from the first kit I bought and kept and cleaned afterward that I can put into my drill again). Worst case, I'll just buy another full restoration kit again down the road if/when I need it.

I'm going to apply this for the UV protection
Another 3M product
