Default new paint

getting ghost tangerine flames on my 04 blaze red coupe. Saw them on this big bear chopper at a show and was really wowed by them. The shop that has worked on my car in the past will do them...costly but it's what I like. I was very impressed with the shop owner's knowledge of the crossfire and paint. The flames wont be quite like these but close. Getting them from strakes back to midway of door.

I know some would say flames are ricey and hurt any poitential resale but these cars dont resale well so Im keeping her and going to get it in show quality. It will be subtile, sort of a less is more approach that when combined with a nice set of rims (future) the car will turn heads even more.

post pics when done

Nice subtle paintwork! Should be a great looking job when finished. (I'm kind of partial to flames). Can you tell?

I'm looking forward to seeing them on too. I've thought about silver and white ones, with a hint of gold, not yellow, at the tips on my white coupe. talk about ghost!

God bless my wife! A few days after I had talked to the painter, I checked back in to see if anything was new. He must of been in the middle of something cause I got the "we'll call ya" bit and he quickly went back into his shop. He wasnt rude but I felt like a pain in the ...

So a week plus goes by and my wife took it upon herself to drop by and plead my case, so to speak. She told him the custom paint is a birthday present and she's sad cause she feels I wont be getting anything. Well she must of found his soft spot because he'll have 3 different colors/styles ready for her to pick up thursday. Great wife + great car= happy me

heres a pic of the flames Im choosing..its a soft ghost flip flop purplr/green that mostly looks red in shade. Its very active and sbtile, you almost dont see it at first then you notice it shifting colors. I bring the car in this monday, my birthday!

yo can see halfway up where he did another style. 5 in all. The pearl looks good and so does the bronze but the flip flop seems to yield the most bang for the buck

getting the flames lined up, theyve torn the car apart so much it looks like a chop shop. Should be all back together and ready for show this friday. Hope nothing rattles or gets scratched cause the inside is FILLED with parts!

Looking at the disassembly is scary. The end result definitely must be awesome for this to be worth it!

We can't wait to see it!

You should be proud of this "mod". I worked in a few high end shops and some (low). but... love the concept and the execution. I would like to take the fake vents out, fill the holes and have the flames come out of the vent to the rear well.

Yours looks intense!

Cheers

Looks great! Very subtle. I'd like to see some photos of the whole car.

Looks great... I like the subtle look. I just would never do that to my car because I am too afraid to see it in parts!

yeah, was just giving it the once over and noticed they didnt get the front of the strakes flush with the body, other than that it's looking good.

The strakes should not fit flush and you would not want them to as they would mark the paint and also catch to much dirt and water at the seam.

Looks like some very nice paint work but man, oh man.... body shops just love to leave a bunch of buffer trails behind, don't they? Do yourself a favor and pick up a D/A buffer if you don't already have one and take those holograms out in a couple of months. Do NOT take the car back to the body shop - they are paint and body guys, not detailers. Just as I would not let the best painter handle the final detailing on my car, neither would I let the best detailer paint my car - two very different disciplines.

The car looks great, now you get to dial it in after a couple months of the paint curing.
