Re: Can we find solutions to headlamp problems?
It was worth the $20 brother. I sacrificed a evening from the gym and got a pretty good workout..lol. Just make sure you got plenty of water on hand when you begin. When you do find the packet its a silver packet. Once you begin your cleaning and you get down to the CV-1 packet which you apply after sanding be extra firm with it to get it down in the plastic. Best of luck to you. I'll take a pic tomorrow and post when i get in so u can see how good it cleans them.

At the end, they mention projector type, like ours, and to make sure the boot is on properly as well.
As far as the seam, I have not looked that close at our headlights, but I will now.
I have heard that the chrysler fix is a vent. That is the opposite of the video

- Generation One. Solid rubber caps with small rubber plugs in the corners with itty-bitty holes.
- Generation Two. Replace small (highbeam) caps with a cap including a permeable membrane and solid plugs, no holes.
- Generation Three. New design. Solid caps. Wierd little rectangular assemblies I can't figure out for vents.
Or, keep it in te garage. Forever.

Yea those buffers are good but if you are a country boy like that you won't mind getting them hands a lil dirty. Thats like taking your car to the car wash and then complaining about the spots they missed...lol. Here are the pics after I used the Crystal View.
Re: Can we find solutions to headlamp problems?
My thoughts are that the very slight misting inside the lens is due to moisture getting through the vents over time and the large amounts of water we see are due to water leaking through the joints as mentioned in the http://www.autohow.tv/node/31 video. The headlight units that have been replaced under warranty were replaced because of a bad joint. The silicone sealant along the joint would appear to be a very good fix.
The DTRL's should eliminate the misting inside but not the large leaks. As I mentioned earlier my car has the original vents and I have had no internal misting, only the slight exterior hazing.
I love silicone sealant and duct tape, how did we get along before they were around? Use the sealant on the headlight units and duct tape to keep the coffee cup holder down, two problems solved.

I have a pretty stupid question but i'm sure someone else will need to know as well. How do you take out the headlights out of the Xfire? Do you need to use some force after the two screws/bolts are taken out?

Re: Can we find solutions to headlamp problems?
Greetings all:
I just joined this group. I have a 2004 Xfire 69,000 mi. I have a serious problem with moisture inside the drivers side headlamp after a rainstorm or wash.. I have the primo extended warranty but the dealer and Chrysler tell me that the problem is not covered. The dealer says that I need a new headlight assembly @$519 + $190 labor. My appointment is for Monday May 4 but , after reading this forum, I think that I would be wasting my money.
Last week When I had the car serviced, I received a complimentary wash and I saw water inside the passenger side headlamp for the first time. WTF?
Any thoughts?

There IS a TSB (known issue) on this very problem. The TSB fix is a new-style vent and cap kit. If it isn't covered (even for the TSB, you can buy the kitfor ~ $25. It is veryeasytoinstall, and thedealerwillgive you a picture-by-picture guide to doit yourself. About 5 minutes.
I'm sorryfor the lack of spaces, but it's my daughter's laptop and I can't hit the spacebar right. And it's stuck on "overwrite" too!

Re: Can we find solutions to headlamp problems?
Does EVERYBODY have this problem? I can understand the hazing over time due to sand, dust, dirt and the like, but the interior haze due to moisture shouldn't occur. If so, at what point in time does it start to appear. My 06 Limited Coupe has crystal clear headlights. Only have 15,000 miles so far.
