Clear rear markers to match the front
Clear rear markers to match the front
I put a set a front clear European markers on a while back. Why not for the rear to match? I found some 194 red bulbs, but have to see what they look like at night. I might have to go with LEDs to get the look I am after. I don't mind seeing the red/yellow bulbs in them during the daytime.
At first I wasn't sure if I liked the front clear markers but I guess they grow on you. I found them to be very unique and had positive comments about them.
For anyone who wants to do this, they are same as the front just upside down and fit the opposite corner of the car. See the 2nd pic for modifactions to make them work. The originals can be put back in a matter of seconds.

Re: Clear rear markers to match the front
Really? I looked all over the forum before I did it on my own. I saw several members installed them in the rear, but couldn't find a write-up. Maybe you can find the write-up link for me so I can see how others have done this.
Thanks, James

but the fitment is much better on james's... he made the necessary corrections for a perfect end result... nice work!
Re: Clear rear markers to match the front
I done my rears about 14 months ago. I used inverted cone LED's that are clear, but light up red on the rear and same on the front except they light up kind of a blueish white. I don't have any pic's of the car at night, but they look pretty cool. Here a larger pic of my avatar so you can see that you can't really even see the bulb.
I did a search and found the post I made when I done it and it does have a few pic's - https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=17062

Re: Clear rear markers to match the front
Steve, I did see your pics a while ago and it helped me decide whether to do the mod. But I didn't see or read anything about what modifications had to be made to make them work.
Your car looks good with them. I stayed with the regular 194 bulbs for now. Red ones are available on eBay very cheap. The red 194 had a pink cast to them once I installed them. I had a spray can of transparent candy apple red and put a light coat on them. Now at night they match the taillight color perfect.
