Default Short Circuit on right side?

Every once in awhile, randomly, my right headlight and my right tail light will stay on after I have turned off the lights, shut off the car, and locked it. They will stay on until I start the car again. It has happened a couple times in the past and the battery never died, but all those times I was only away from the car for one night and I would find it in the morning and it was fine. Just this weekend, though, I was out of town for 3 days and they were on when I came back and this time the battery was dead (obviously, after 3 days).

Does anyone know what would cause these to stay on and how to fix it? I really don't want to pay some idiot $90 just to hook the tester up to my car and then tell me he has to replace computer modules to further investigate and yadda yadda yadda, $200 dollars later..... :/

Any thoughts would be wonderful.

Are you sure you are turning the headlights off. They have a parking light position for the left and right side.
I did this on accident when I first test drove my car, so I found right away about the parking light position.

A parking light position? I'm not sure I know what you mean.. can you explain that a little more? I really hope that it is that simple!! That would make my day!

When you turn the headlights to the off position. If you keep turning counter clockwise, to the next position. That would turn your right parking lights on. If you keep going that would turn your left parking lights on.

It doesn't take much of a turn for these positions, it is very slight. Just go out and test and you'll see. Turn your headlight switch all the way to the left and you will see what I mean.

awesome, thank you! I will have to wait until I get off work in half an hour to check this out, but it sounds like this is probably the issue! I have never even heard of such a feature, so I'm glad you told me! Thank you thank you thank you!

Yeah that is really a strange feature. If I didn't find out accidentally at the dealership I wouldn't know what was going on.

So, I checked it out after work yesterday and unfortunatly that wasn't the problem. It's clearly related to the right side parking lights though so that was still helpful. It seems there is some type of electrical problem with them turning themselves on when I shut off my headlights. I still don't understand why it happens so spiradically though.

That is very odd. Maybe there is something wrong with the fuse. Is this car still covered by warranty?
