Default Load equalizer for license plate lights!

I've replaced my license plate lights with LED bulbs and I know in order to get rid of the 'Light out' light in the dash I need to install a pair of load equalizers (I got it from http://www.autolumination.com/equalizers.htm)
but I don't know where to install them!? I already changed my parking lights to LED and used a pair of 100 OHM,5w load equalizers and hooked them up to the parking light wires. I'm just wondering should I open the trunk door cover and install another pair there for the license plate lights or is there any other place that I can use them!?

If you remove the cover on the inside of the hatch, you can get to the wires on the license plate lights. I put mine there, but it didn't solve the problem as I think I got the wrong sizes.

I would also suggest wrapping the ceramic resistors in a small clump of fiberglass insulation or something non-flammable.

You will have to remove one bolt to pull the cover off. It's located in the 'handle' section of the panel.

Cheers!

Thanks man! what size did u get, I got the 15-25 OHM - 25W for the license plate lights!
before this I got the 100 OHM - 5W for the Parking lights which worked like a charm! I read it on that site where I bought it that I have to get the 25W in order for the license plate light to work!

FYI: Your LEDs will begin flickering eventually because of overvoltage problems in our vehicle (the wiring was never set up to provide the extremely stable voltage you need to keep LEDs from getting damaged). So, while you're back there installing a load equalizer you're going to want to install one of these:

http://theledlight.com/rg12regulator.html

Install all of it in this order:
1 Battery
2 Load equalizer
3 Regulator
4 LED License Plate Lamps

Just remember that if you ever go back to incandescent lamps back there you'll need to remove the regulator first.

I just bought Canbus LED bulbs with the built in resistors and never have the bulb warning light on. They cost a little more, but are better then splicing into the wires
