That is just the way they made it. Even though the mesh is VERY stiff, I guess they felt they needed the extra bracing of a wider frame border. If this grille were plastic and made from a mold it would be thinner but the mesh would be similar to the standard lower grilles. Having worked with a number of vendors who said they could do this, they also wanted $10K or more up front for the mold.

This company moves quickly and now they are seeing a fairly strong response from owners (thank you).

The other companies I was negotiating with said that the Crossfire's production was too limited to explore products that could be offered at reasonable prices.

Karl,
Sent you a PM.
Please add me to the list for upper and lower grilles. You did a great job working out this product. I remember you mentioning it at the Meguiars detail 101 class and you put it all together, kudos to you!!!

I have been assured the mesh is stainless. I will check them and post tonight when home from traveling.

Both the mesh and the surround are non-stick. That means the grille is either stainless steel or teflon LOL

Thanks everyone you have really responded well.

As of now 15 sets were ordered plus a few separate uppers and lowers. You helped me accomplish what I told them at SEMA, "...the Crossfire owners on the forum are very hungry for quality add-ons at a reasonable cost..." in fact we have responded so well that they have pulled the item from eBay and still have not added the parts to their website. At SEMA I attempted to keep the grilles exclusive to forum members initially.

The result is their small initial shipment is sold out. I have notified the members who should be getting theirs the end of this week. Another container with some grilles is expected to arrive around the 2nd week of April the balance will definitely be shipped then.

There is talk of a number of the sets coming in by air but they will have at least a $15 premium added due to the extra cost of the air freight. I am going to talk with them Monday and try to negotiate it down or away. If I can't we have two choices, wait for the rest until mid April or would you be willing to pat the premium (no markup)?

This was the first batch they brought in. They did not consult with me on initial quantity. If so, there would be plenty. They brought in less than 10 sets and sold a few on eBay. I was able to snag the last four including my own. Like I said there are some coming in by air, but they carry a premium of $15 unless I can convince them to cut me a deal. If so we could resume shipping next week. Otherwise we will have to wait for the container.

The three people who are getting shipped Monday, were the first to order.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but I told them this would happen.
