Re: Any New Engine Cover paint Jobs?
I just detailed my car and was taking off the engine cover this morning to clean the engine, and well, I broke the left front corner of it. I guess I was in too much of a hurry. Chrysler wants $981 for a new cover (that is not going to happen), so I decided that I will fix and paint it.
Since I am driving over 500 miles next week to Indianapolis, I am trying to get it fixed before then (I can't drive a car that is blemished)
I will post before and after pictures when I get it finished.

Hey Phaeton:
I just bought an 04, the same corner had been broken before, looked like it was repaired by a gorilla with a caulking gun full of epoxy.
I sanded that crap off of it, filled the crack with JB Weld, sanded that down, hit it with bondo, then red putty, wet sanded up to 600, then painted the whole cover with WalMarts finest .96cents a can flat black, hit the lettering with silver and a flat brush, and away we go.
Every time I open the hood, someone goes WOW. (which amazes me, but then again, around here Crossfire is not what you would call "common")
Might be 'cause the car is white, with the flat black and detailed engine compartment, (cleaned and armoralled all the hoses and plastic) there is a flow/contrast in there.
Hope this helps.

I went to the local paint store and had them mix up the paint to match my car ($10). I am going to keep it with just the base coat and not put a clear on top. That way, hopefully, it will match the sheen of the silver paint and the rest of the body color paint that you can see in the engine compartment. Hopefully I will have everything done by the weekend.
