Does any one know what I can use for touch up paint for the silver windshield suuround and where I can purchase it? The local Chrysler parts department said there is nothing available from Chrysler.

Thanks

There's no paint code for the trim. You need to take somewhere to have them match the color and get a small bottle.

I did a part search on that number and came up with nothing. I was told by a paint shop that has a massive database for paint codes that there is no code for it. I stand corrected if you can find it

Question Re: touch up paint for windshield surround

fyrepower, is this “part # 05179660AA” a Chrysler part number.

I don’t want to appear stupid but I think a little more information would be needed for those of us that got on the bus late.

My windshield surround is in need of repair and the paint appears to match the rims which also could use some touch-up.

That is the MOPAR/Chrysler part number. It can be used for the wheels as well as exterior silver trim.

If you take it to a BMW or Mercedes dealership go to the body shop and ask them to bring out their paint match tool. It's a little digital camera thingy that will create a paint code for your car that takes sun fade and oxidation into account. Ever see when a person gets their fender re-painted and it looks darker/wetter than the rest of the car? It's because the rest of the car faded. Factory touch up paint is only good for about the first year of your cars life, after that you need a custom blend. My brother works for Roger Penskee's BMW division in his paint shop...you should see some of the gadgets they have.

My brother is going to paint the windshield surround body color for me (black) and going to have all my silver exterior trim pieces chrome plated in "black chrome".

Black Chrome Pics the color of it changes in different lighting conditions from black to bright shiny chrome:

You are one lucky guy. Black chrome is an absolutely gorgeous material for this car.

Yes, and it's great on wheels because of the ease of maintenance (cleaning) and the fact that it so effectivly hides brake dust!!

I was able to order the touch up paint at the local Chrysler dealer. A little pricey at $8.88 a bottle but at least I will have it!

Hi everyone,

I bought that touch up paint fro the rims 05179660AA. It doesn't really match. Not so happy with it, I decided to remove it. It seems to be more like the color of my jeep !!!
Does anyone have another idea ?

Cheers
