Default Roadster Aerial

I intend to replace the standard long ungainly looking aerial. Before I remove it, a question..

How is the cable atteched to the aerial? Is the coaxial cable connected via a snap on/off plug....be good to know before I start to remove boot trim etc.

UK Ken.

The top part just screws off, and you can replace it with a short stubby antenna if that is what you are looking to do. Chrysler Crossfire roadster Short Stubby Antenna

Hey Ken .... I think that if you start to lower the top, the toneau cover will raise up at about a 90 degree angle, and if you stop the process there, you should be able to see into, and reach into, the area where you can either tighten or loosen the aerial body. You should be able to trace the wire easier this way, rather then tearing out all the stuff in the boot/trunk. I'm not sure of the type of plug the coax uses, but as I say you might be able to easily trace it this way. I hope this helps a little! Have fun, and report back......

Will these short antennas work with the GPS Navigation Radio?

Yes, the GPS has a separate antenna that is located under the front dash.

just wondering if the shorty will pick up as well as the original antenna. Since I live in the country it would be a concern.

If you look at the listings on ebay and read the details, it looks like the smaller antennas do not perform as well as the standard antenna.

I've got a shorty 'bee sting' and no problems with reception to date. It is a brushed aluminium and I have unscrewed it and wiped off a little moisture after heavy rain but that's all. Looks cute

If anyone is interested, I have a shorty antenna that I will sell. I paid about $14.00 with shipping. For me, it works as good as the original but I do live in a metropolitan area. I just bought a nubby (even smaller). I will ship this to US address for $8.00 PayPal.
