Looking to buy
Re: Looking to buy
First of all Tom, welcome to the forum. You have posted in the European Regional Forum so is it safe to assume you are somewhere other than the United States?
There is a wealth of knowledge here so be more specific with the info you are looking for, and our members will answer your questions, or refer you to where you can find those answers in the forums.
I've only had my XFire for just over a month and I absolutely love it. I was refered to this site and found the members here extremely helpful and friendly. I hope you'll visit often and join us. Hopefully, you'll find the XFire of your dreams.
Bob

Hi Tom
With your location and Crossfire you are ready for the next crossfire meet! which is close to your neck of the woods. Keep an eye on the posts for more info
Almost forget, welcome to a great club. Now is the time to haggle hard when purchasing you Xfire, as dealers want to move them on. If you need boot space then buy a coupe, if not the Roadster is a fine car, and with both you get lots of goodies for your mony.
Cheers
UKKen.

Re: Looking to buy
Hi mate,
Welcome to the forum.
You wont regret buying a Crossfire the best thing about them is they are really rare so you don't see many unlike the TT.
My best advice would be get one with low mileage in the best condition possible.
Simple advice I know but the cars have lost a lot of money since new so it should be easy to get a good deal on one.
I find they are quite cheap to get serviced certainly no more expensive than any other car and need done once a year unless you are doing a lot of mileage.
Check the body fo staightness i.e. no parking dings etc.
Check the wheels for damage as they get damaged very easily and check the paint finish on them as they are really expensive to replace also check the centre caps for water ingress.
Check the tyres because again they are very expensive and if it needs new tyres you need to budget £700 to £800 for a new set.
Check the usual things like accident damage etc.
Check underneath the tailgate for rust and under the doors.
I would buy an auto as you can get problems with the manuals but if you do want a manual make sure it dosen't jump out of first gear.
If you do want a manul they are cheaper than the auto new or used.
Check the seat heaters because i've heard of a few people having problems with them.
If possible buy one that is still under warranty.
If you don't mind me asking how much are you looking to spend?
All in all thay are really good cars and i've never had any problems with mine the only reason I'm asking that you check all these things is these are problems i've come across on this board over the three years that i've had mine.
I plan to keep mine for a long time as I love it.
Oh and in case you were wondering black is the fastest colour.
Hope this helps.
Norrie.

Hi Tom
A couple things I found when looking around for mine last year was. The drivers seat were belts and pockets catch. Wheel rims scuff easily. Most Crossfire have low mileage but the lower the better. Got mine from a dealer in the end and got some warranty with it. But the best thing is, their an great eye catching car.
Hope you find one.

Hi Tom
Whatever colour you decide..its a great car and you will love it. Be bold and get the burgundy colour..its not loud and if I had not been able to locate a low mileage Xfire in Black, I would have choosen the burgundy, it looks really smart and not to many of them about. Main point to remember when looking for your car, dont rush into buying, There are some great deal and prices available,,and look further than your local dealers..enought said. Good luck with the purchase and I'm looking forward to seeing your car at the next meet!

Hi there, did you manage to get yourself a car or are you still looking, there are some bargains around at the moment, I wish I could afford another one as well!

Re: Looking to buy
Hi Tom
All the above points are sage advice, these guys are enthusiasts and know what they're talking about. Like you I scanned this forum before buying and found little tips on what to look for.
Living up in the frozen north I found it hard to find a well priced low milage Xfire in my local area. I did a search on the web and found a site called http://www.allapprovedcars.com which showed me the regional variation in prices, and if you don't mind travelling to have a look at a Xfire then this site is well worh a look. I eventually bought one in February from a dealer in Edinburgh who had put one up for sale.
Good hunting.
