Default Manual to Auto Transmission Swap Anyone done it

I just bought a 2005 coupe with manual trans and I my left ankle is arthritic and everytime I have to depress the clutch I sure wish I had an auto. Car has only 32000 miles and is in like new condition so I would like to keep this car. My thought was to buy a wrecked car with auto and do the swap rather than trying to piece the job with parts piecemeal. I've done swaps like this in my younger days and always the worst part is trying to get all the bits and bobs to make it work. Anybody done this? I realize maybe the hardest part is getting the electronics to work correctly.

The cars today are not the cars of your younger days. I am sure it is possible, but not worth the amount of time and money needed. Look for another car with an auto to drive, then sell yours. My opinion.

It will be impossible for you to accomplish this. Swap the transmission, then call Josh at the MSS and he can fix you right up.

The total overall cost will be really high, so DO NOT ask him first, just swap the transmissions and THEN call him. That way, we can read your posts about how screwed you are.
It's entertainment I like.

In my opinion; I agree with everyone else. The best thing to do would be to find another and sell yours, or maybe you could trade the manual for an automatic.

Not impossible, but highly impractical. The mechanical portions are straightforward enough. It's the electrical side of the house that will eat your lunch. Going from automatic to manual is a far more feasible operation than this one. A 32k mile car will fetch a good sum, and you will be dollars ahead rolling that into an automatic car of similar spec.

good eve. Am pondering changing auto to manual. I presume it's a matter of needing less electronics for said changeover and disconnecting as opposed the other way around and needing to plumb in extra wiring if going manual to auto? Thankyou for your time.

Hey there Bcriner 1…….

your easiest, fastest, and most cost effective solution to driving an Automatic is to list out in detail……..all the features and condition of your 2005 Manual - and wait for all the offers to come pouring in. There has to be a considerable number of members on this site that wanna change of pace.

You just might be driving an automatic at a cost of zero dollars.

make us a deal we can’t refuse

I believe he has an auto and wants a stick but the same consideration applies and I agree.
