WIpe them with alcohol when you get them, they may have that nasty virus on them!
And always replace them with a HOT engine, if you don't burn your hands changing the Crank sensor, the new sensor won't work.

I replaced the crankshaft position sensor with a brand new one and was idling at 2200 rpms not 600-800. What do I do now?

Were you trying to cure a high idle problem with a new Crank Sensor?

A high idle is not a side effect of a bad crank sensor.

plug the line to the charcoal canister back in, it runs across the backside of the drivers valve cover right where you were working.

I am trying to fix the car running fine then it starts to run rough with no power, then it stalls. After everything get a chance to cool off the car then starts and runs fine again. I had to wait maybe 10 minutes before it started. Other then this issue the car runs with no issues. It is an 05 convertible with 49000 miles. I saw in another thread someone else had the same problem when they changed the crankshaft position sensor some time ago as I was just reading the forum for any information I might be able to use on anything. I cannot find the thread nor remember what the solution was. The car was idling at 600-700 rpm since I got the car in 05. The change happened when I put a brand new sensor in. Could I have a bad sensor. I changed back to the original sensor that came with the car in 05 and idled at 600-700 rpm as before. I do not plan to take the car out of the garage until the sensor is replaced with a new one.

Did you order a Bosch sensor?

What was the part number?

You didn't say if you checked Needwings suggestion?
Common for idle to be high or eratic because of vacuum leaks, it appears it started after you changed the CPS and it is very possible or likely you accidentally disconnected a vacuum line.
If you already checked, sorry no other ideas but good luck.

Should be Bosch 0261210170 https://www.boschautoparts.com/en/au...tID=0261210170
This part compatible with 2004 Chrysler Crossfire V6 3.2L

I placed the Amazon link above in post #16

The parts #0261210170 and 0261210171 are interchangeable with each other.

Regarding this website, it's not
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...sor-0031532828
but I did a research and, Yes part # 0261210171 has been superseded to 0261210170.
0251210171, that number was shown by ray48317

Thank you so much for the links - for some reason Amazon is telling me these are not compatible with my 2005 Roadster LTD

and if the engine stops and we want to learn if it is 1 or the other that is failing, could we use a creader?
i have the 319. could it do?
if we carry the spares and a reader we could at least attempt to replace the culprit.
otherwise even if we carry the spares we still will be grounded.

What does Amazon know about your car? Less than you do.

You should not be searching for "2005 Crossfire" but for 2003 Mercedes SLK320".
The numbers given are by members here are right.

IF the check engine light comes on, then yes. The code(s) will tell you which is in trouble.

But some times, the Crank sensor (and mabye the cam) will fail in such a way that the check engine light does not come on, no code is set.
I do not know why this is, but in some cases, the ECU does not appear to know what it is missing.
