Default Smoke, oil at exhaust outlet

I've found that the 57K miles SRT-6 smokes some out of only the left side (not that I'd prefer it to be both sides). There is oily residue on the lower edge of both outlets.

I hear how bullet-proof these engines are, so assuming rings and/or valve guides - or a burnt valve would be doubtful. Or not?

It had passed smog (strict CA tests) so wondering why the smoke and oil?

Think about the exhaust system using a single pipe after the resonator and into the muffler. I'd say left or right lost any meaning.

To repeat: '05 SRT-6 with 57K miles. Okay, I'll go along with your comment. There is, of course, the same amount of oil and smoke coming out of each exhaust outlet. Also, it would be silly for me to think that there is more heat coming off the left hand headers than from the right ones.

Not having owned my SRT-6 for long - and should this be a possible factor - and never had a car with a supercharger, I would appreciate the following information: What is the general pecking order of possible causes and what are their names/locations?

I would think that in some circumstances one side of the engine could be hotter than the other due to lean conditions for example.
I cannot see any oil on those tips. I get water when the engine is cold, but water is a byproduct of combustion, and when cold it comes out as steam but condenses, when the exhaust is hot it is less visible.

Normal, if you saw mine you'd have a heart attack prolly. The srt-6's exhaust tips seem to get more dirtier then a regular crossfire. Everytime I see a non srt-6 crossfire they have clean tips, I see a srt-6 they have sooted tips. I just attribute that to likely richer a/f needed for a boosted car. You can clean polish them if you want but there are no issues with what your seeing. Mine are like gun metal blk since I DD my car.

philosophico, while I considered that the SRT-6 might well run somewhat rich - which even without putting your foot in it - their fuel consumption isn't all that great and no doubt explains the soot. My Ltd's exhaust ends are quite clean by comparison.

I'll just add here - if I can get my Sata spray gun to quit coming out with 'flutters' (yes, correct name) and I can finish the Ltd's hood, it will be up for sale.
