Where do I get a 'Special Tool 9120'?!?!
Where do I get a 'Special Tool 9120'?!?!
One afternoon my 6-speed all of sudden wouldn't go into random gears. Then there were some wheezing noises going on, but I managed to make it home. The following day it wouldn't go into any gear except reverse and there was no pull when I let off the clutch. After pushing a reset switch on the transmission it will go into all gears except reverse. To complete the adjustment the manual calls for a 'Special Tool 9120', which I cannot find ANYWHERE!
Does anyone know where I can find one?? If anything I can make one if I had the dimensions. Please help me someone, please!!

Here's what it looks like - 4x4 Icon - 9120 Alignment Tool
Google, eBay, MB dealer or maybe some forum member has the complete tool set and can send you the dimensions. I saw the step-by-step adjustment procedure here on the forum from 180.

Also, keep us posted on the repair. I'm sure a lot of us manual trans guys have shifters that need adjusting.

This is not the only error in the service manual for sure. I bet when you use the tool it'll take a few tries to see the proper location/operation of using the tool correctly to achieve the desired result. Oh, and no, I do not think the tool should 'bend' to use it properly. Good luck!
