Default Misfire but no EML

Hey all,

Got a strange problem on the crossie.

Driving earlier today and on three occasions in an hour the car started to very slightly misfire, always when engine decelerating. Twice when I revved it was fine, on the other occacasion it lasted about 20 seconds and 4-5 revs (bllip to 4K or so).

No EML came on however, which is what I dont get.

It was raining very very slightly, and I have a CAI fitted with the intake pipes running from the top-left and top-right front of the radiator. When I got back I checked the pipes and there was no sign or water entering the system but some very slight specks of water on the intake horns.

Just seems wierd that such a tiny amount can cause a misfire, if indeed its water at all. Lots of people just run their filters at the front so I'd be surprised its water. What do you think?

It could be old spark plug wires shorting from the moisture.

Drove for about an hour yesterday and the misfire happened again, in the same scenario (bogging down) but today it was a completely dry and sunny day.

I'm starting to wonder if my CHG has gone.

Just to follow up a few months later, everything is fine and the issue has not happened for a while, at least 2 months - engine must have been adjusting to the mods.

All fine now and running lovely. No coolant loss, no mayo.
