This is getting crazy. Can anyone help me???
This is getting crazy. Can anyone help me???
I have perfectly working car (well, almost perfect). Everything is working, no check-engine light, no error codes, drives, runs, acccelerates - everything is great.
And I'm on the verge of dumping my Limited 6-Speed Roadster to the junk yard because it can't be driven legally on the streets of California.
The thing is, everything is working except one little problem: EGR Data Not Ready. Because of that - I can't pass the Smog Check and therefore I can't register/renew the car.
I have spend hundreds of dollars on diagnostic. The car been through several Mercedes Specialized shops. The first thing I did I have replace the EGR Valve and the battery just for the heck of it (not me, the proffesionals at the shop replaced it, to be exact). Then I drove more than 600 miles, then I went through couple of other shops. Nobody can find what's going on with it.
One guy suggested to replace computer. Really? The whole fu---ng ECU unit that performs thousands of functions perfectly fine?
But, I said - hell with it, let's do it until I've learned to price of about $1,300.00 for the parts only. Now, I just can't believe that this is the only solution. On top of that - nobody even guarantees that this would fix the problem.
PLEASE.... Does anyone have any suggestion for me? I'm dying here...

Re: This is getting crazy. Can anyone help me???
Thanks everyone who replied. I did searched through this entire forum. I looked through several hundreds of posts, took me several days. I did haven't found anything that would apply to my problem. As far as catalyst & o2 sensors - they all pass. That's the thing, all tests have been passed and cleared except EGR.
I haven't contacted Eurocharged, but it occurred to me in the past that reflash my ECU (even if I don't need extra boost), may reset something that could fix the problem, but I want to leave that as a last resort.
I apologize for cross-posting to another (previous) post, but nobody replied to me in several weeks there. That's why I rephrased my problem in this post.

Re: This is getting crazy. Can anyone help me???
Have you double checked all fuses? The only reason I mention it is I had a friend that nearly sold a Honda Civic due to the O2 sensors reading "not ready status" and it was failing Texas emissions because of it. Turned out he had an old aftermarket radio that did not work and had blown the fuse at some point. It was not mentioned anywhere, but the radio fuse was the memory keep alive for the ECU. Essentially, every time he turned the key to off it was the same as disconnecting the battery.
Good luck, hope you figure it out!
