error p0106
Re: error p0106
Look to see if the vacuum line in broken, or disconnected behind the sensor. This sensor is attached to the plate on the front of the engine, you had to remove the plate to get the water pump in and out (2 bolts). You probably didn't even touch the sensor and left it attached to the plate, however there is a vacuum line behind the sensor. It is very difficult to see, shine a small but powerful flashlight behind the sensor to see if there is a vacuum line coming out of it. When my car did this I could only see a small piece of the hose left on the back of the sensor. Remove the sensor (1 bolt) and find the vacuum hose that is broken or disconnected behind the sensor. I had enough hose left to reconnect it. Put the senor back on the plate and reset the check engine light and drive to see if the light stays off. I just fixed mine today, it took 4 months to find this problem! Since I never touched the vacuum line and it is hidden behind the sensor it is difficult to find. I finally found a picture at a Mercedes forum showing the vacuum lines on the front of a similar MB engine. It mentioned the "hidden" vacuum line behind the sensor, or I may never have found it. The Mercedes owner had also just put in a water pump. I think as the cars get older the hoses are getting brittle and breaking instead of bending.
I hope you can translate this so it makes sense.

Thanks Toolman and zip439, one further question the hose that connects to the MAP, how easy is it to replaced and what size if you happen to know in case the hose is also brittle since all the hoses are original.
