Hi, i live in Chicago, IL. I recently bought a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Limited. I want to start the summer fresh so i decided to go ahead and get a tune up done to the car. Like change spark pulgs, air filter ect. I called an auto shop by my home and they told me that only dealers can do that. Is that true? anybody know any mechanic shops or dealers around Chicago area that work on these cars? where can i get an oil change done? jiffy lube? also what would a basic tune up for this car include? any help would be highly appreciated. thanks.

 

The car is strictly a Mecedes by mechanics, the body by Chrysler. I also live in near the Chicago area and I take my car to:

They do EXCELLENT work!!!

 

If you can get a second set of hands to help you out since there are 12 spark plugs you can do it yourself in an hour or so. I bought 12 double plat. Autolite plugs for $35 w/shipping and a set of sockets was $50 and $12 for beer. That's my personal opinion though, I was an apprentice at a shop that work on German cars and they cut a lot of corners. Like not changing oil filters but still charging the customer for it. So my advice has always been do the work yourself so you know it's done right.

 

Rudy is in Chicago, if he can't do it then go to speed driven,he works with them. with a tuneup, you may want a tune. more horse power better gas mileage. PM Rudy and see what he's up to, see if he can do it jim

 

Hey thanks for all the info guys. I contacted Auto Star and the guy sounds like he knows what he is talking about. I also checked their reviews and the seem great. Unfortunately ive never done a tune up on my own and i love this car and dont want to mess up anything. Now where can i find rudy in the forum? got a link to his page? thanks!

 

Most people learn real quick that a lot of shops do NOT know what they are doing when it comes to the crossfire,
now on the other hand everyone knows that Rudy the crossfire guru and speedriven are one of the best places to have anything done because they know our cars,,ask the guy at auto star how many crossfires he has worked on in the last year,, hell ask last 5 years Rudy,, thousands and don;t forget he has 3 cars that he has installed V8's into...
