How to take off Valve Covers and Manifiold Covers???
Re: How to take off Valve Covers and Manifiold Covers???
Valve Cover Removal:
1. Remove the CAI pipe(s).
2. Unclip the coil pack wires from the coil pack - you will need to cut the black zip ties holding the wires.
3. Unbolt the coil packs from the valve covers.
4. Pull the breather port hoses off of the valve covers.
5. On the driver’s side, unbolt the fuel line going into the fuel rail. Use a rag to wrap around the bolt to prevent gasoline splashing in your eyes and to catch as much gasoline as possible. Walk the line back up to the driver’s side heat shield and zip tie it facing upward to prevent any further leakage.
6. Remove the bolts attaching the valve covers. You will need a swivel socket extender to get to the lower bolts closest to the firewall on each side.
7. Once removed, make sure to cover the valve train until you are ready to install the new/painted covers.
Valve Cover Installation
1. Insert the gasket into the underside of the valve cover. I used new gaskets which fit perfectly. If you reuse the original gasket then I am not sure if you will run into any issues. I included a link that discussed how to connect the top piece of the valve cover to the bottom among other things.

2. Put the valve cover into position while making sure the gasket does not slip out of the groove.
3. Insert the bolts and tighten them down in acrisscross pattern from center out. Torque them down to 12 ft. lbs (Not 100% sure on the ft. lbs. so double check the service manual)
4. Reverse order the steps in the Valve Cover Removal instructions above.
Intake Manifold
I have included a few links about the intake manifold removal and install. Someone has already claimed the “Worst Intake Manifold Install Ever” so no pressure about screwing it up and I won’t say who!!! Note: On the install I hand tightened the bolts, then followed that up with 5 ft. lbs, and then again with 7.5 ft. lbs. – some go up to 10 ft. lbs. etc.

Also, when removing the bolts, I use an empty box to create a bolt template to keep track of bolt position during removal.
I think I covered everything. Good Luck!
