Default Coolant that will work with OEM Coolant

I did try to search but didn't see an exact answer. Got a small leak in my coolant reservior. While I'm waiting for my new reservior tank, I need to add some additional coolant. My 2005 was purchased by me after it was returned from a lease program and I'm guessing there is still the original coolant. What coolant can I purchase from Advance Auto, Auto Zone or Wal-mart that will work in my system without damage. Used to be you had to match yellow with yellow, red with red etc. Do I need to make sure I use a certain type or can I just buy something that is suppose to work with anything. I need to add some now and will probably need a little more when I replace my reservior tank. Need a quick answer. Thanks.

I found Zerex G-05 at Napa. It is HOAT type, it should work fine.

I did a full flush and replaced with Zerex G-05/distilled water 50/50 also, no issues.
BTW: I'ts yellow, but looks almost clear when mixed with the distilled water.

I had to order the Zerex online, none of the parts stores around here had any.

If you're just topping up the reservoir until you get a new tank, I'll say that adding straight distilled water will be just fine. Just get it flushed and replaced before winter sets in.

1st noticed a low level (idiot light) months ago. Added distilled water then. Did not see the leak, just thought level was a little low. Now it's definately leaking and I added ~3/4 of a gal of distilled water Tuesday. Light back on today so I need to add more. Didn't want to add more water only - afraid it may boil. Probably used ~ 1 gallon of water so far and probably needs another 1/3 gal now. Not sure when new tank will arrive. Don't trust idiot light and I'm checking every day. Just want to add some coolant that won't mess anything up with my existing coolant. Thanks for any suggestions on this.

If it were me, I'd just keep adding distilled water till the new tank arrives.
( what's that, 85 cents a gallon ? )

When you replace the tank, top it off with distilled water again, run it a few days then check the antifreeze level ( good to -20F or such )

but again, if it were me, Id replace the tank, do a complete flush and refill with 50/50
Zerex G-05 and distilled water.
