Default LTB 74mm TB & 3in CAI

Hello,

I am getting ready to start on my intake system on the Crossfire. I am in the market for a Needswings SCAI, a 74mm throttle body, and 3in MAF. I would appreciate any insight, ideas, and vendors for purchasing through. I am up for buying from members here, if the price is right!

Thanks

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression the Needswings CAI had a place for the MAF and you didn't need to "upgrade" it to the 3in

Looks pretty complete to me :

as to the TB, if no one on the forum steps up, then you will find that carguts ( Blacksburg, SC ) has 22 of them ( A 113 141 0125 ) on the Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market site for $85 each ....
( look under 2003 Mercedes SL class, then 230 Type, SL500, SL55 , then sort by price.
They will be on page 8 )

Nice folks, by the way. I was stupid and ordered the wrong one the first time ( W112 / 68MM ), they took it back and sent the W113 at no charge.

( talk to them and ensure the one they are sending has A 113 141 0125 on the black plastic cover )

So, we are thinking that I will need the needswings kit, the throttle body, and a throttle body gasket, and that will be all? I'll just snap my current MAF sensor into the kit. Anyone confirm this? I'll check out carguts for the TB. The cheapest Tb I have found on eBay is something around $150.

And here is my answer, as I shot an email to Rob (I also asked about colors):

Hello, yes our system includes our 3” maf housing, we can do them in silver, grey, black, red, yellow or blue Teflon velocity coating.
Thanks, Rob

Rob sends the screw type hose clamps, you might want to get some 3"-3.5" Tbolt stainless clamps ....
but other than that, yea, that's all you need.

here's mine :

Hey George, how did you dent the tube at the firewall? It'll only go in with TLC not a hammer!

I didn't, that's the way it came from the guy in San Diego.
It was a LOT worse, I knocked most of the dent out.

What would be the best place to get a TB gasket and those better clamps? Online, Auto-zone, O'Reilys?

I bought a pack of them, we'll see! I also have all the parts ordered. Hopefully I will get it installed in the next couple weeks! Will post pics when I do. Thanks much for the help!

Also, I have already had a base tune from Eurocharged. Will I need to contact them for a retune?

Yes, I'd wait until both the CAI & 74mm are installed.

So, I received the NeedsWings kit today. Installed it and the 74mm throttle body as well. Waiting to get my updated tune from Eurocharged, but the car is definitely more spirited! Kinda smelling a little funny, but I am guessing that is from the mixture change, that will hopefully be addressed by Eurocharged.

Sweet !!!`

( looks like you used the screw clamps, the t clamps wouldn't fit ? )

Now you need a C320 engine cover :

Then my car would look just like yours, haha! I just can't seem to justify the price for one, though. You ever seen one cheap, let me know! Would ya?

Well, I had to use some screw clamps, yes. For a couple of the connections the bolt clamps were just a hair too small and I couldn't get it.

I bought the TB from a person here on the forum. Got the clamps and gasket off of eBay (part number mentioned earlier thread.) I did take the opportunity to clean out the air intake on the engine with some SeaFoam while I had the TB off. Mine wasn't bad, but I gave it just a little cleaning and soaked up the oil and cleaner with a microfiber towel before installing the TB.
