Lasts a little longer as I have to drive it home and then arrange for the part. I took a look at the website. Could you provide me with the part number by any chance. Or the direct link so I do not order the wrong part. The local m/b dealer appears to be charging a similar price if anyone could please confirm the part number.

Thanks.
I would assume the MB dealer knows what he's talking about!

But I would ALSO listen to 32Krazy - I don't think there is anyone currently posting on these forums who has wrenched on these cars as much as he. (Maybe Rudy, but he's not posting much these days.) Call a wrecker and save a LOT of money.

You don't want to be a story people tell here (I already have that distinction. )

When both Woody and 32krazy agree on something, take it as gospel - DO NOT DRIVE IT UNTIL IT IS FIXED !!!!!!

I have certainly taken your advice on the matter, and appreciate it. I have gone ahead and placed the order with OE Discount Parts. I had some trouble locating the part, but they were able to find it over the phone and dispact it overnight it for $250 + $37 expedited freight.

It will probably be worth it in the end. Towing the car to the shop tomorrow once I receive the parts to install both the sensor and the pulley.

Thank you all. Wish me luck.. Updates to follow.

Did you order a new crank bolt?

Not that I am aware of. I simply ordered the following:

Crank Shaft Sensor from German auto Parts

And

Crank Shaft Pulley from OE Discount Parts.

A few times the guys said "new bolt", but I thought you might have missed that part. Just contact OE Discount and have them include the bolt. Shouldn't be more than around $20.

By the way, good choice not driving it the way it is. The loose pulley could damage the crankshaft and you'd be in real trouble at that point. If it came off, forget about it. Big $$$ then.

Appreciate the clarification. I was able to reach them and have them include the Mercedes Crank Bolt as suggested. It will be arriving tomorrow as well. Cost = $9.

Thanks,

Update!!!

I just got back from the shop. The car is running flawlessly once again..

Initial Concern = Misfire in every cylinder consistently at 4200rpm...This was simply due to the sensor. (Thanks everyone)

Secondary Concern = Proved to be a bigger problem. Glad the sensor went bad, and sent me looking at the harmonic balancer...Replaced with a brand new one I received in the mail this morning. Runs great.

And yet another episode with a happy ending.
See, people, if we all continue to work together in this manner, we can keep our
babies out of the junk yard and away from those mean ole Chrysler dealerships .....
