dual cai vs cai
Re: dual cai vs cai
That comment wasnt directed at you. it was in response to the op asking which had better gains and dragtimes shows the single wins.
as for the races to set the record straight my car shut down during the race at max rpm due to a bad tcu mod. in a second race i short shifted and evened the score. apples to apples

That's cool, so which one would you (an avid drag racer) recommend?

Say it ain't so, you were one of the few who stayed positive!
Re: dual cai vs cai
You know I was REALLY trying to stay positive with this, but after telling me and jonctavar updates were on the agenda for the weekend, and nothing as of today, I'm finally becoming discouraged. We all know it's not an easy car to conquer, but it's almost looking like a "when there's nothing on TV we'll work on it" thing. Really disappointing since they have been such a major player for the Miata. But I guess there was enough of them around to make it a "must do" project.

Hey Max, the redline site number you reference gives three elbows ( Max-Redline.com - max-redline.com Product List ) for that part number, can you narrow it down? Thanks!
Re: dual cai vs cai
Steve and I have discussed this ad-nauseum...
Some of the fastest cars on this site use a big pulley, DR's, tune, and a single 3" intake.
mrphotoman, Mimi, grip grip, etc...
The dual makes great numbers, and looks better, and has better immediate throttle response. But the proof is in the drag times (whether published or not). They're really too close to call. That said, I'm going with a dual simply for the balanced look and extra 5 horses under the curve. Since the rest of my motor is staying pretty mild, I'm making the intake wild.
With a big filter, the single is within ~100 CFM of the dual. IMO the dual only makes up for the slight pinch in the radiator pass-through on the passenger intake.
The single is simpler, and with the same air flowing over less metal, I'd dare say the IAT's are ever-so-slightly less than the dual. More metal with a given amount of air = more heat retention.
For an N/A, there's no way I'd do a dual unless it was done for cheap (like max did). For the SRT, do whatever floats your boat. There are plenty of factors to equalize times (traction, driver mod, sh!tty TCU tune (sorry Steve)).

Duh! I should have seen that... It's late and I should go to bed now... Thanks JHM2K!

Re: dual cai vs cai
Maybe a big pulley someday. Still using my itty bitty 1st gen Code-3 pulley with stock manis, heat exchanger, intercooler pump, muffler and of course my single cai is a homemade unit.

I just paid for mine but you might still be able to sneak in.. you'll need to pay for a membership and register on the Crossfire International site, though, so you may want to ask Rob from Needswings first if he'll let you in on it...
