Re: Screen removal on MAF below intake on NA 3.2 M112
Drove the car a little today. Removal of the baffles made a huge difference. I still have the 68mm MAF with no baffles, but does have the screen. Was going to take the sensor off and put it in the 74mm MAF, but could not get the tamper proof screws out. I will try and get the tool to get them out Sat. change it Sunday if possible. May just drill the center pin down and remove. The point is removal of the baffles seems to have made a big difference. Has anyone else done this yet?

A 112 141 0190 ( inside the info box )
A 112 140 0118 ( by itself outside the info box.
Google reports only Russian & German sites with a lookup to either part number.
If I were you, I'd be patient ( like I was ) and wait for a used NW CAI to show up for sale ........
( AND NO, YOU CAN'T HAVE IT ! - I'm keeping it in case I ever decide to get rid of the car ( doubtful, but you never know )

Ahh, I see another response while typing this, thanks alaxfire!

Mine has 2 numbers on it ( and no, I didn't remove it to look, it was already on the shelf after installing the NeedsWings CAI ) :

Re: Screen removal on MAF below intake on NA 3.2 M112
Well, I can tell you that the car seems to really run well.
I sent Eurocharged a message to see if we can get it in for a dyno run. Hope to hear back soon. I will post any info as soon as I get it.
I have also put the 2.75" intake tubes on and wrapped them with aluminized insultation on them to keep heat down. Thinking about insulating the bottom side of the airbox too, but I don't have anymore money now.
I'll send another message to Eurocharged to see what the schedule looks like.

Re: Screen removal on MAF below intake on NA 3.2 M112
Just got back from Eurocharged. Jerry did a six pull Dyno run for me. My last RWHP was 198.1 on 07/15/11. The one today was 211.4 RWHP. TQ looks to be just about the same as HP. Today was cooler temp ,no doubt, but the two 2.75inch air intake tubes, removing the baffles in the elbow, removing MAF screen, and adding the 74mmMAF certainly added some HP (12.8) . Cost of the tubes, MAF, etc probably $125, not bad. If any of you are think ing of doing some or all these changes, I think you will be pleased.
Of course, the first thing to do is get a dyno tune, which everything keys off.

Needswings intake works because it relocates the MAF to a more direct and unobstructed airflow path. The same design is used on the E, ML, and CLK class M112 engines.
Take the inof that I and many others have provided and use it the way you want to.
