Project Crossfire - a Rotrex Supercharged Limited!
Re: Project Crossfire - a Rotrex Supercharged Limited!
Very, very good. I'm sure it is impressive in person. would love to take a ride in it someday. What do you calculate RWHP at 14 psi boost? Do you think it would hold together at that PSI? Maybe have to put an SRT6 crank, rods, and pistons in to stand up long term, of course that would require buying them low cost.

Making Progress!!!!
Very interesting indeed. I took off the air filter to my rotrex and installed a screen before messing with an air box and it made no difference in boost. So, I pulled the rotrex pulley and my dual drive pulley then grinded down the grooves on each to reduce pulley size (and improve traction) and >>>>>>>>>>>
That said, boost went up and now I am approaching 80% on the srt injectors. It looks like it's time to hook the boost signal back to the fuel pump and see if the built in pressure regulator gives me the extra kick I need to bring my afr's back down where I want to be and give me the head room I need for cold weather.
Man she felt sweet! That 3rd gear pull was awesome!

Re: Project Crossfire - a Rotrex Supercharged Limited!
For those that follow, I definitely wanted to confirm that adding a boost signal to the fuel pump offers an increase in fuel pressure just like a RRFPR. I am now making 1 full bar of boost and was approaching 80% fuel injector percentage at 13.1 AFR. I made a slight adjustment to fuel to pull it down to 12.5:1, added a boost signal and am now running a 10:1 at the same 80% utilization. This is more than enough room to lean her back out and account for cold winter air!!!!!!!

So I've been thinking lately. If the turbo project doesn't launch as planned due to R&D costs, I'll seriously consider a kit myself. Everything is shaping up so nice and years worth of R&D behind me, the biggest challenge I have is making commercial versions of my parts.

If so I would surely look you up for fuel management and build my own system up to my liking.
And I have been following this thread from the beginning and applaud all the work you have done and continue to accomplish. I never really had anything worthwhile to add, hence I haven't posted in here previously.
Re: Project Crossfire - a Rotrex Supercharged Limited!
I actually hope to test that this weekend. I bought an SRT-6 ecu from Rudy but my thinking is that it wasn't necessary. The Star DAS lets me change basically everything I need. I plan on plugging in my old ecu and using das to change to the settings I am running currently with the srt ecu. If it works, that is one big hurdle out of the way although bittersweet.

You know I'm kinda like several others, reading your post and admiring your ability and dedication to this project. Lately some new owners have come on "i tuned a honda with my iphone..I'll have this cracked in two weeks" and I send them this link in hopes they'll realize this car is no where near a Honda.

Re: Project Crossfire - a Rotrex Supercharged Limited!
Let's put it this way, I plan on putting my NA ECU back in this weekend and changing the settings to tell it I have the AMG motor. I might have to re-initialize like I did with my current ecu by mistake, but in the end, I should have the same maps as the srt6 ecu. If this works as I believe it should, then I would have never needed to buy the srt6 ecu in the first place which is good news for everyone else, bad news for my wallet. This is the last piece of the puzzle before I can claim that I can successfully tune any FI mod on the NA platform. In fact, with the air water intercooler setup I have, I could pull my rotrex, sell it on ebay, weld in a rear mounted turbo and be making 35-40 more HP across the board in a few weeks time. We are talking modded srt-6 numbers then folks!!!!!! Not to mention the fact that I have another piggyback I could use that offers a built in boost controller!
That said, I don't know if 35-40 is enough to give up my instant throttle response and non existent lag, but at least the option is there Hell, if someone else will engineer the turbo mounting (bell comes to mind) I have the rest to take it to a Stage III almost overnight.
Fun times ahead!!!!!!!!

I will patiently await any results you would be willing to share with us! Once again thanks for sharing with the group all of your hard work!
I honestly would be happy with 50 more horsies under the hood. Any more is just icing on the cake.

Re: Project Crossfire - a Rotrex Supercharged Limited!
Not having any luck with the two times I tried quickly throwing in the NA ecu and going into developer mode with the Star Das. Das locks up on me and I can't get in to change anything. That is the only hurdle to using the NA ECU along with an AEM on an NA turbo or SC upgrade. What I need to do is use DAS to change the magic setting to get rid of the dreaded load limit reached problem. Other than that, I can tune it all day long with the AEM.
As far as the AEM is concerned, right when I switched from the NA ecu to the SRT-6, one of my driving forces was leaning on the AEM so much and the fact that I hit a bump one day and my motor died. I since fixed that and learned to keep a little pressure on the harness to prevent any loose conection from losing contact. The AEM is now proving as trust worthy as one can expect and not giving me any issues giving me a new found confidence.
So at this point, the SRT-6 ecu is still the best fit to go FI on an NA. Once I figure out the problem with getting into the NA, I'll be a happy camper if for no other reason than to play around, not to mention what it could do for others.
Still, for others that are not bound by their own personal demons to do their own tuning like me, you could always go to one of the big boys. In the end, there is nothing stopping anyone from swapping an SRT-motor into an NA, adding a turbo or other Fi to either.
Hell, I've been toying with the idea of mounting a turbo where the muffler is to see what it can do. I've never done a rear mounted turbo before and it looks so darn simple compared to what I had to do with the Rotrex. I might just go there after the first of the year when things calm down for me a bit.
