And I can tell you why people don't run me is the stance of the car and the straight pipe. I've been verified as audible from 5 miles from my house and most people that pull up next to me just wanna talk about how good it sounds, a few stupid high up cars have asked to run and we end up talking cars. Although one night I had a redneck in a dodge quad cab that kept on trying to get me to go on the highway. I lol'd and drove off
Re: Project Crossfire - a Rotrex Supercharged Limited!
LOL, I had three people try to race me - on the way home from purchasing the car! They used to try all of the time. It's probably because it looks bone stock. But no one tries anymore. I think I've got a reputation! It's nice to see their faces when they pull up next to you at the next traffic light and you know they're thinking one of two things:
What the hell did he do to that car?
or
I didn't know those cars were fast!
Muahahaha!

Re: Project Crossfire - a Rotrex Supercharged Limited!
I have something really weird going on. I'm not making anywhere near the boost I should be making for the pulley size I have on the rotrex.
Yesterday, I ended up taking off all of my intake plumbing and putting just a filter on to get that run in with a pulley that should be making 15 psi or so. Today, I came home suspecting belt slip, so I worked on my dual pulley to improve grip, which I did significantly and boost did not change one single bit.
I have pressure tested the IM several times with 17 psi and no leaks. It is like I have a boost leak only at speed. Maybe something to do with the intake runner butterfly valve system?? It is like a circuit opens up, and once it is open it bleeds off air, but the rotrex puts out so much that it can still make something, just not what is supposed to make.
I already found the same with the EGR, so maybe another system on the car does the same thing.
Something to investigate for sure...

To achieve your full boost potential, you may need to switch to a short runner intake... might have adverse effects on torque.

My neighbor builds turbo set ups and one of his customers complained that he wasn't getting the expected boost. My neighbor and I took the car for a run and sure enough the boost was half of what it once was. After a look around we discovered that the customer took the screen "air filter" on the turbo inlet and folded it thus doubling the amount of restriction on the air intake. We removed the screen completely and went for a spin and sure enough the boost returned to expected levels.
So my guess is maybe you have restriction on the intake side. Remove all intake components and go for a spin, see if boost goes up.
Re: Project Crossfire - a Rotrex Supercharged Limited!
In regards to the boost problem.
The stock intake manifold has a few issues.
Theres a vacuum line that feeds from the intake manifold to the firewall, not sure what this is for, I'm going to assume it feeds actuators for the climate control (as i havent looked too much into it yet) also, the brake booster line could be an issue, as a lot of times the brake booster itself will actually leak and the fitting where the line comes into the booster will leak as well
Also, where the arm for the butterflies comes through the intake manifold to the vacuum actuator, the only thing sealing around the shaft is a hard nylon bushing. This seems like an issue, it might seal under vacuum but the positive pressure could cause the bushing to unseat, plus the added heat from the intake charge could cause the bushing to expand at a faster rate than the shaft causing a gap to open up.
I've been looking at the stock intake manifold for my turbo setup and honestly it has lots of issues. You already addressed the egr problem.
The other issue is i'm assuming you've fed the butterfly control actuator vacuum from the intake pre-rotrex.... If not the butterflies wont close/open under load as the actuator wouldn't see vacuum.

Re: Project Crossfire - a Rotrex Supercharged Limited!
This ones a done deal! In fact, my wife already put it on the calendar and is calling it a day date
Well, the tuning has been on a slight hold while waiting on new belts. I'm getting some belt slip and maxing out at 8 psi when I should be making twice as much. I've tweaked half a dozen things looking for leaks prior to re-designing the pulley setup as it is a fairly complicated operation and I wanted to hold that off until last. In fact, I did all of the following:
After all that, I still make only 8 psi. So I have some other tricks up my sleeve to get more belt wrap on the drive pulley. I should be able to test them this weekend.
As it is, 8 psi is enough to spin the wheels at the 1st to 2nd gear shift as well as the 2nd to 3rd gear shift and get traction control to kick in! Well, that and the crappy stock tires, you can't take them out of the equation!

In fact, I did all of the following:
- I disabled the evap line and capped it off
- started to replace the brake booster hose and realized it has a check valve at the booster so i worked on the other end and buttoned it up tight
- In fact, I capped off the stock brake booster location on the manifold to rule it out
- I pulled the manifold switchover vac hose, sealed the switchover lever and locked it into the short runner position
- pressure tested the map sensor and air pump solenoid - both hold boost
- I shaved down the grooves on the dual drive pulley I had made as they were too deep and I was losing surface area on the belt
- I then sand blasted the pulley for better grip and to see if it would get polished back up with use thus indicating belt slip
- While I was at it, I also had an erratic boost signal while logging with the SPD or AEM - I solved this by adding a restrictor between the IM and AEM and boom - perfect signal
After all that, I still make only 8 psi. So I have some other tricks up my sleeve to get more belt wrap on the drive pulley. I should be able to test them this weekend.
