One other thing you can try is turning on your A/C
The fan will always run at a low speed when the A/C is on regardless of how hot the engine temp is.

If it doesn't, I would strongly suspect the fan module!

So the general consensus is that the radiator fan motor is going bad if that light is on?

That light popped up on my 05 SRT-6. Coolant level is fine, and the car does not overheat, it stays in the middle. But then again, not much stop and go traffic or really hot weather.

Anyone have the part number for the fan motor and which one to go with? Thanks!

Also...Has nothing to do with the coolant overflow sensor going bad?

The problem here is that the light you speak of indicates an issue with the cooling system - one of SEVERAL in a list of problems and with just hte light on, you don't know which it is!

This can be low coolant, or a bad sensor.

But it can also be a breakdown in communication between the fan module and the PTCM. The fan module "handshakes" with the PTCM on a continual basis anytime the key is on. I believe that if the fan module senses too little or too much current to the fan motor, that will also light it. I don't KNOW this, but I BELIEVE it to be true.

I THINK there are other issues that can light it as well, but I am unsure. SO MUCH about these cars is undocumented.

OK, post 11 in this thread confirms my statement: unusual current to the fan motor WILL cause the FCM to light the light!

FIrst things to check:

Is the coolant level low?
Is the level ok - and maybe the SENSOR bad?
Is the Fan controller or fan motor itself bad?

To test the Fan motor and FCM:
With a cold engine, start the car. The fan does not run.
Turn the A/C on with the cabin fan at mid or high level - the engine fan runs as slow speed, maybe 300 rpm.

If the fan won't run with A/C on, most likely your FCM or fan motor is bad. But check the 50 amp fuse for the engine fan first - it is a 50 amp fuse in the "Engine Fuse Block", the little box next to the battery toward the front of the car.

I think he means LOW coolant sensor.

Read this and you'll know as much as anybody, maybe more if you have a good memory.

There is only one sensor on the coolant overflow tank. You know which one I was talking about.
There was a fan recall on the Crossfires. Will have to see if it was done on my car yet. Mine doesn't go on and off. It stays on once I start the car. Going to start with the cheapest route and order a new sensor. I will be sure to post pictures and reveal what the problem is.

Correct part? ^^^ Well according the RockAuto.com the C32 AMG and SRT-6 have different part numbers for the coolant level sensor. I thought they would be the same??

If you call something by the wrong name then maybe one assumes that you have something else in mind. If problems are to be solved it is best to give all the symptoms, not omit one that points to the solution. A constant on fan is a common and easily solved problem.

The Service Manual has checks for the Fan Control Module, maybe it would be smart to check that part before buying something else.

After reading the search results I gave you a person could assume that it is the Radiator Fan Control Module that is at fault, in which case going the cheapest route will turn out to be the expensive route except for replacing the PCM. A constant running fan is most often the FCM, it is that simple and lots of posts verify this. You can get used ones on eBay, prices do vary somewhat.

I light with a fan that runs all the time? That is a bad FCM or a breakdown in communications between FCM and PTCM.

I had this problem few years back. Dealer first replaced fan module because it was a known problem. Still didn't correct it, then fan motor replaced and that took care of it. Also, when that light comes on the a/c won't work as the compressor won't kick in.

Better update my situation. Kind of embarrassed but very happy.
When I finally had time last weekend to check my engine bay and look around I saw this:

It is supposed to look like this:

Problem solve. Easiest fix ever.
