Dual Exhast all the way back?
Dual Exhast all the way back?
Any reason I wouldnt want to do this? I was just at a muffler shop that said he would be able to run straight from the cats two pipes into two glasspacks and weld on my tips for only 200 bucks.
or 250 with magna flow twins turbo type but they arent stainless steel.
But he has been there for a long time and gaurantees the system lifetime.
I was thinking of getting the Magna flow system 16633. but its twice the price and then I would be installing it...They seem to think the glasspacks would be to loud?

BUT, in all honesty, I cannot tell you whether I got any boost in performance with the muffler change I made ...
here's all the details plus a lot of other 'stuff' as well ...

Re: Dual Exhast all the way back?
Im think the main Question is dual all the way back? and or will it sound odd?
If its to loud then I could always put the other type mufflers on.
I know its supposed to be good to have a y pipe or single pipe system to equalize the pressure but isnt it a bit late to join them after the cats?
In the old days everyone always went to duals all the way back.
Im just wondering what other people have found before I do this tommorow or not..
Ive heard some 6 cyl trucks before that sounded really strange!
I think it would be better dualled all the way back......

best of luck ... and whatever you end up doing, be sure to share with the group, won't you ?
Re: Dual Exhast all the way back?
Thanks Steve . . . . I appreciate your advice and I think Im going to try the glass packs.
Stainless or not....Its just a muffler!!!
Whos gonna see them any way?
Im a tool maker If I need to, I will make a nice bracket or something that no one can see them.....

Re: Dual Exhast all the way back?
harley,
don't quote me on this, but i'm pretty sure that a true dual system will not net any real performance advantages. i know on an FI engine (turbo or s/c) it can help reduce back pressure and you may see some gains, but i dont think on an N/A setup.
Like I said, don't quote me on that. There are many people who are more knwoledgeable on the subject than I am. I'm sure someone can confirm or denouce this for us soon.

Re: Dual Exhast all the way back?
We have a dual on our car and it sounds amazing, but that is completely subjective.
We paid 1600.00 from a reputable shop, if you can get it for 200.00 then go for it, but don't settle for crimp bends or pipes that bang. I don't know how the labor rates are down there, but for our system there was about 4 hours of welding. That plus the 800.00 in material cost made for a costly, but worth it system.
Good luck!

No, you can free up power on a NA too. Especially if you delete or replace the Cats...
