Default Oil Filters

For those of you that change your own oil, what are you paying for fleece filters? My local dealer wanted $30. That is crazy. I do not want to use Wix and want to stay with Mann Fleece filters.

Good deal. Thanks. Not sure what the heck the dealer is paying but the mark up is insane I suppose.

You have some of the better prices I have found. I searched the internet and don't believe I can beat yours. Didn't realize you guys carried them.

Thanks for the info.

You can get 4 Mann filters from www.germanfilters.com for $59 (I believe that is what I paid).

Mike,

I did order from German Filters and got 4 for $57.34. I also have a Jeep Cherokee Diesel (MB) and will be getting mine from them as well.

If I wouldn't have ordered already, I would have gotten them from Needswings. Didn't even think of them for the filters.

Thanks, Steve

What makes the Bosch any better than the rest? Most all that I have seen have MANN on the filter regardless of the box brand.

K&N, MANN, BOSCH, NAPA same filter (as long as they are fleece)

I bought mine from Napa since it is so easy for me to just go over there and pick one up for a decent price without getting raped.

Closest Chrysler dealer here to my work was in the neighborhood of 30.00. Mercedes was around 18.00 or so for the same filter.

Ironic isn't it? You would think MB would be $30. I ran into an unbelievable situation the other day. We purchased a while back a Jeep Cherokee Limited with the 3.0 MB Turbo Diesel which we like very much. The dealer gave three years of oil changes as one of the incentives. MB calls for a low ash, perferably synthetic 10W30. Try to fnd a low ash synthetic. I could go with conventional but choose not. I had an idea. I wanted to go with me changing the filter in between their changes at the half way point. It is very similar to the Crossfire filter. I asked at the parts counter the price of the oil and filter and about crapped my shorts. The filter was $31 and get this - the oil was $18 per quart for synthetic low ash 10W30 for diesels. Freakin unbelievable! I asked what brand it was and all they were willing to tell me that it was MOPAR oil and they thought Mobil 1 makes it for MOPAR. I searched Mobils site and could not find that offering.

I did find a site that has good prices on Crossfire filters (German Filters.com) and for the Jeep along with ELF synthetic 10W30 low ash for $8.45 per quart with free shipping. Incidentally, the filter from them is $12.89.

Are the oil filters the same for the N/A and the SRT6. I went to NAPA to get this filter and was told that it was only for the SRT6. I went ahead and bought it. Haven't done my oil change yet, but will soon. Can I use this filter or do I need to exchange it for the one shown for the N/A? I wasn't smart enough to have him bring both out for me to check....
