lmao, just add a green led light on each purge to give that "snot" illusion!

Moved the filter from behind the radiator support to the front because people were teasing me that it wasn't a true CAI. I love DIY jobs! Besides, I didn't have to relocate the horns or anything else! Seems to be running just fine this way.

Thanks Dan,

I designed it and a friend of mine who works in the sign industry made them for me. I also had the "powered by Mercedes-Benz" logo made for the side's of the car. I like them better than the one's for sale on the net or at the mercedes dealership.
Mine look like they are factory logo's instead of those ones that are thick and look like they were an add-on. I just don't like anything that takes away from the sleekness and clean lines of the car!
I will post some pic's of them soon.

Nitrous can be dangerous!

Does that also pertain to water/methanol injection?

Here it is. I know, many don't like the location of the filters but at least give me some credit for relocating the horns and making a custom support to replace the wde stock horn mount.

Very clean and very neat. Nice wrap job. What material did you use?

BTW, with those style filters, you can still remove the restrictions in the front bulkhead, add 2.75" tubing to the new, larger holes and plumb them to the inner cone of the filters. At least you will benefit from some cold air, and since it is obvious you are capable, you can make it look nice too!

I used a header wrap. I may change the set up slightly by also running an intake tube that draws air from the front to the center of the filters.

Blkfin has seen the compartment and can confirm the pictures don't do it justice. Pain to keep it that way. I polished the aluminum tubes an such that really makes it stand out.

It shows! And I've polished enough aluminum and stainless to feel your pain. Both on a 12" buffer wheel and with a little 3" air-grinder buffing wheel because what I was working on was too big to move!

Great job.

Looks good Steve - where did you relocate your horns?
I did a horn relocate thread but now I'm considering moving them again to make room for another mod - one that might help out your intake filters.

The bling is looking good - I see that I need to get my oil filter housing up to snuf.. Very nice work on your intake...

Thanks Brian,

I moved them to the far corner of the drivers side. I could tuck them in behind the bumber/headlight area a little more but was concerned with them not being loud enough. I used a piece of polished aluminum bar stock to make a replacement support mount where the original mount for the horns went. Looks good and far less obtrusive than the Y looking original mount.

Let me know about the filter set up. I can run piping from the center of the filters to the front which I was going to do. I don't want to put the filters directly in front of the radiator due to restricting the flow for cooling. Double edged sword I suppose.... Cool intake air and hotter radiator temps or a little hotter intake air but much more radiator surface to cool the car.

I just fitted K&N filters courtesy of Anthony @ TVTDesign (any other Aussies out there want these? - Anthony is half the price of locally purchased, incl shipping!) and took the opportunity to paint up my engine cover and fit a Merc emblem.

Apologies for the quality of the photos - taken with my phone...

Just completed re-doing my engine bay

Went with the Mercedes cover due to the original being damaged beyond repair after a gust of wind took it while I was cleaning the engine compartment.
Chrysler cover $560, Mercedes cover $170, The new look Priceless !!
