MB engine covers for $159 + shipping
MB engine covers for $159 + shipping
I was doing some searching today for the Mercedes Benz engine cover for our cars and found a nice deal here:
http://trademotion1.rtrk.com/?scid=584873&kw=4038357
The cost is $159.00 plus shipping for a part that lists for $234.00. I called my local MB dealer and they wouldn't budge from the $234.00 price. Their loss is my gain. When you get to the site, click on the MB logo at the bottom under Eoru replacement catalogs and put in any year, make and model of benz. When the parts come up in blue on the left side, scroll all the way to the bottom and click on "part number search". Type in part # 112-090-05-01 and search. There u go!!!! Shipping for me was only $12.00. Mine is on order.
Pictures of what the cover looks like are in this thread.

Re: MB engine covers for $159.00 + shipping
Have either of you received your air box from mydirectparts.com yet? I ordered mine on Saturday and was wondering how long it took to be shipped. Mine still has a status of Processing - On hold. Of course it's only Monday evening.
Re: MB engine covers for $159.00 + shipping
I've been tracking mine and it's showing a delivery date of the 14th, so hopefully it'll be here on Wednesday. Mine also showed processing for about 3 or 4 days after ordering.
Re: MB engine covers for $159.00 + shipping
I received mine yesterday. Very nice. Includes the airboxes and the air filters are there too!!! Pop the old cover off and snap this one into place....its so simple.
I had a slight issue with shipping. I live in NY and this company is based in CA. They were supposed to have the cover dropped shipped to me from some warehouse, but it was shipped to the dealership instead. I called the dealership (mercedes benz of Fresno) and spoke to Pete Cagle in parts about the mix-up. He was the one who processed the order and stated the drop shipper messed up. He made up for it by shipping it to me using UPS 3 day select at no additional cost. Thanks Pete.
I am very pleased.

Pete Cagle called me from Fresno today and apologized that I wouldn't receive my cover until next Tuesday. It was shipped today. He stated that MB had a very limited supply. In addition, I received an email with the tracking number. I guess that MB hadn't planned on Crossfire owners buying them.

I just put on the new Benz engine cover tonight. I really like the way it looks. It looks like it belongs on there. Well, I guess it does. I'm going to keep the cover stock. It goes well with the black car.

FYI,
THis is still available for the same price.
I'm surprised considering that the relative strength of the Euro and the Dollar.
If you include the cost of the filters, this is quite a bargain.
I'll post photos when I get it installed.

Why does this website give you a good deal on MB parts, but on the Chrysler accessories I looked up, they are MSRP?

Re: MB engine covers for $159.00 + shipping
Having asked them the same question today, I know the answer.
The web site is actually a bunch of independent factory authorized dealers marketing together via this web site.
On the opening page, when you click on the brand logo, you are switched to the specific retailer.
ie. Click on Chrysler, you go to the Chrysler dealer, Click on Mercedes, you go to the Mercedes dealer, who is willing to sell his stuff for less. Yes, assuming they have the same cost structure, an oil filter for the Crossfire, is cheaper at the Mercedes dealer. Strange but true... yes, same part.
The lesson here, is shop around before you buy, and when you find the right price, buy a bunch of the consumables, as the price of German parts are on the rise.
BTW, the difference in attitude between the Chrysler contact and the Mercedes contact was amazing. As soon as the MB parts guy had the part #, he said oh, you're going to put this in a Crossfire.. Must have been selling a bunch of these to CF.org members..
Anyway, my conversion to a (visually) non Chrysler product is almost complete. ... And that is sad. Being the son of a career Chrysler engineer, and a long-time Mopar owner and advocate, the attitude of the new Chrysler LLC, and the it's local dealers towards the Crossfire is discusting. In my humble opinion..
I hope that your dealer experiences have been better than mine.

Re: MB engine covers for $159.00 + shipping
You are 100% correct. I don't know what happened. I have it bookmarked too and it was bringing me to the same crap you were getting. Maybe they forgot to pay their internet bill
I will keep checking it and let you know if it comes back up. Sorry about that. It was good while it lasted.

Installation is too easy.
Grap the old one at the rear, pull up....
lift from the right and left side... the air intake tubes slip off by themselves..
center the new MB cleaner over the oil cap..... press down..
done... Air filters are already installed...IMHO, a tremendous improvement.
