the auto crossfires will get full dyno runs far as i know, they do not have the problem the six speed has on the dyno. there is still no way to get full dyno runs on a 6 speed is there, needswings your graphs are only to 5k right

ill have to verfiy that we can get a na auto xfire to dyno up to 6k withthe mercedes diagnostic laptop, it will unatainable withotu the mercedes laptop afaik
the autos don't have the cut off so no need to spin the front wheels for dyno.

I see no need in reving to 6k since hp falls off at 5,200 no reason to rev beyond that.

no it doesn't and even if it did, when you shift to the next gear you are in a higher rpm which means more power since you are in the "power band"

if the hp dropped off like a rock after 5200 then yes but as you can see it does not.

i was thinking the same, its not like that car falls on its face after 5200 and if you shifted there you would be low in rpms coming into next gear, you wouldn't be in your power band at all. i understand though that for dyno runs it is ok because you get an idea but also you don't see your af or anything after that so you don't really know whats going on after 5200 to your redline. im sure it is fine but would be nice to see

I'm just spewing the facts from mercedes, yet they tune the m112 power output to 230hp not the 215hp as in the crossfire.
but from that graph you do see tq starts dropping quickly at 5200rpm. it also looks like power in the graph is curving downwards at 6000 rpm, no reason in producing anymore power above 5200 anyways, since this is a rigid 90 degree block, anything over 6000rpm is getting to be a bit too shaky with vibrations

Oh man I had to laugh at that.

looking at the dyno graph i posted you gain both wtq and whp from 5200 all the way to about 5800rpms then you may lose 3wtq after 5200 rpms but still gain hp. it is beneficial to run all the way to redline/6k rpm. you can shift at 5200 and lose races/time at the track if you race but i plan to run through my entire powerband and use the car to its peak power as it was intended. I raced my last supercharged car actually past redline every time i raced it (also a supercharged V6) for over 4 years with zero problems. you will see substantially better track times and you will fall into your powerband much better when your car shifts by going to redline. I can type it out in a chart using excel if it would make it easier for you to understand, it will be next week though. i am leaving today to go on a business trip and will not return until sunday.

ignore the facts and grannyshift your car but that is the simple truth. I plan to get the maximum power out of my car but that is my choice. It will not harm it at all

ok, got some good news/bad news

bad news = i just spoke with the powdercoating shop and they havent gotten to our stuff yet but say they will this week.

good news = just got off the phone with the mandrel bender and the 2nd batch should be done tomorrow morning, so both batches should be powdercoated at the same time. so they should all ship at the same time for you guys.

Ah, that IS good news for us guys in the first batch. Now we dont have to feel guilty about having our intakes while the second batch guys suffer in anguish. That saved our conscience.

I think you're confused. This is the CAI thread, no grills here.

You can't smoke that here unless you brought enough to share with the group!
