This is for those of you who have been reading the ongoing debate over the upsolute chip and its lack of data to support its claims, or anyone who has been thinking about buying a chip, or joining the group buy for the Upsolute chip. I have taken it upon myself to go get a Baseline (stock) Dyno of my Crossfire. This is happening tomorrow 4/11/06 @ Modacar in Livermore California. I have spoken with Scott, the Rep. from Upsolute who is trying to arrange the group buy from our forum. He has agreed to let me place a $250 deposit on the chip ($50 for express air mail there and back) and then have another Dyno run done at the same place. This data will put all of our worries to rest, and we will once and for all know exactly what performance gains there are to be had from the Chip. All together this is going to cost me at least $450 to have done, not to mention my time without my car (chip being re-flashed), and time to have the Dynos done. I am asking for donations just for the dyno portion of the cost. The Dynos are going to cost $150. Hopefully there are some of you that want this proof as much a i do, and who better to trust them a member of your on forum who is in the same boat. I will post my Baseline Dyno tomorrow night when i get back from Modacar. Thanks everyone.

My guess is that the chip adds 12 horsepower and 15 ft-lbs of torque.

Thanks David. If your guess is correct i think everyone is going to buy this chip. I'll be happy with +8 hp/tq. That's my guess.

I think you are about spot on.

Make sure they log the A/F ratio for you in your dyno runs.

 

Please post lots of pictures of your Crossfire on the dyno. I think it would be a first! Also post the details on how they get past the rev limiter.

 

Just got back from Modacar. Have lots of pics, and the dyno print out. Max HP 173.24 Max Torque 183.35. It was on a Dyno Jet. That translates to about a 23% drivetrain loss in power when measuring with the Dyno Jet. The guy at Modacar said that the read out looks about on par with what DC claims, so thats good. I asked him if he heard of Upsolute and he said that he has. He hasn't heard anything negative about them. However he stated, that there are lots of bad "chip" companies out there. Some make the car lose power. He also said, some chips make cars ping and detonate, and to stay away from those as it will kill your engine. I remember someone else talking about the pinging with the Upsolute. Has anyone else experienced this? If so please speak up.

I did over 20,000 miles with Upsolute and no problems. You do notice the difference especially in the mid-range, and the redline is increased, so you can stay in lower gear for a bit longer when launching. I guessed at around 15 hp, otherwise I would not think it would be noticeable.

 

I'm hearing lots of talk about the Upsolute chip, but has anyone already tried other brands that are on the market? Which ones should I stay away from, and are there any others that provide real performance improvements?

Surfed the web today and found several that claim 15-20 HP gain and seem rather inexpensive.

Any horror stories or winning solutions to speak about?
