Dirty or water spots on glass?
Dirty or water spots on glass?
I noticed some water spots on the glass that just would not come off with cleaners so I started looking back at some old TSBs.
Found one for a problem with a suction cup mark left on the glass during assembly (not crossfire)
The TSB stated to use Bon Ami cleaner (a kitchen cleanser type product but very mild & non-scratching)
So I gave it a shot - the glass turned out great! Removed all the spots and not a bit of road grime or bug guts left on the glass.
I just sprayed a bit of water on the glass, sprinkled with Bon Ami (very light & powdery), and "polished" with a small wet sponge. Then washed the car as usual so it would get a very good rinse to make sure no residue remained.
Give it a try if you have nasty glass - USE ONLY BON AMI others may/will scratch. (it was very specific on the TSB)

Re: Dirty or water spots on glass?
Tape off around the windows and use steel wool, extra fine 0000 type and this will remove all of the water stains on any of your windows. The extra fine steel wool will not damage the exterior windows. DO NOT use it on the interior of the rear window, since it will cause damage to the defroster lines.

Re: Dirty or water spots on glass?
Why would you bother - for about $1 you could buy the Bon Ami and be done with it?
There is little effort required, no chance of scratching the glass (or the paint), it is ultra cheap, available everywhere, and most inportantly it WORKS.
Just try it and you will be sold ....jeez
