Ford Modular V8 with auto?
Ford Modular V8 with auto?
For example a Coyote 5 liter with the 6R80 auto trans, aftermarket ECU and a US Shift TCU. The usual problem would be getting the dash etc to work. People are doing things like putting a Nissan 370Z engine into a BMW and using Audino talking with the canbus to make it all work but that stuff is beyond me. Generally does the Xfire's electronic sensors match up pretty well with later US engines? Using a Merc V8 is not practical for my AU situation.
Re: Ford Modular V8 with auto?
I am partial to the Mercedes, and My V8 crossfire is then 2010, and now2024 the world's fastest crossfire in the 1/4 mile 10.55 @132.
also the cost per time finding all the quirks to get a chevy, ford, or hemi engine and tranny to fit and work
to Install a Mercedes engine (mounts fit) (V8 transmission fits) (drives shaft fits) , and with 600hp it all stays together
for at least 634 1/4 miles runs at the drag strip,,, I have a friend that put in a chevy ,, car still does not drive after 2 1/2 years
I am now on my third Mercedes build, and with Rudy and Josh helping with tuning and little things that we know that work so well
this new V8 crossfire that i have (have not taken to the track in 9 months now ,,throat cancer and skin cancer,,beat them both
that is cancer # 4 ,, back to the car,, this one is a little faster than the last two, I took it on I-95 and at 80 mph punch it, hold it, time it,,,
the 10.55 car went from 80 to 150mph in 7 seconds. this newest hits 150 in 6 seconds,,, LOL you ever try to watch
a stop watch and drive at 150mph, I95 in Florida is nice and flat , I am waiting for the 1/2 mile roll run next year to see what it will do in the 1/2 mile
well to my point the Mercedes swap is easer and faster,,with time even cheaper. jim

You keep coming up with these super complicated swaps, instead of what is practical, and we know works. As someone who is a hot rodder at heart, and has done numerous swaps, sometimes simple is the right answer. 5.0L M113's are super cheap, and not overly complicated to drop in. The 5.4 is the much better choice, and just as easy to swap.
You got right to the core of the area you are going to be weakest in, and that is the CAN bus. Oh, and it's not just the dash you will need to worry about. It's the AAC, ESP, PSE, AB and more. As for the Coyote, have you ever taken a tape measure to one? Do that, then go look at the CF.
Sorry to be harsh, but I think this is beyond what you really want to get involved with. Do a 'simple' M113 swap, then maybe think about something exotic, like M137/M275 if you want to really take on a challenge of something no one has tried before in a CF.
