The whole project is getting expensive. KYB 553364 - rear and KYB 553363 - front are twice cheaper than Bilstein shocks but perform the job perfectly.

I don't really consider the shocks as "part of the project".

I wanted top shelf shocks so I bought top shelf shocks.

I have the B6's on my Z51 C4 Corvette too and am happy with the firm ride they produce.

Nice Corvette. C5 was on my buying list but finally, I bought Xfire. I couldn't find C5 with manual transmission for a decent price.

I'm certainly not going to say what my next car will be..... because I've bought and sold a bunch of cars.

I can tell you that my next "factory fast" car will be a 3rd gen Viper. I've got just shy of 4 years before I "max out" in pay at my job. The week after that happens, I will have a Viper.

would prefer the viper, but I will be putting alot of miles on and there is a big mpg difference and mods are endless on gm.

I like the c7 better, and alot more luggage room than in the frunk.
C6 has alittle more room.
c8 has a problem driving with the windows down at speeds with excessive noise, what I have heard from several people.

Some reasons I like the c7 better and some I like the c7 better.

But with alot of driving every week and luggage indoubt the c8.

What a beauty! First time C8 Chevy has officially moved the engine to the middle, behind the passenger seats.

Yep, we already knew that.

Official term is "mid engined".

She's a runner!! Damn this engine runs good. Had a few noisy lifters when I first fired it off but they stopped after 30-45 seconds. Idles smoooooth!!

We have a new issue to tackle though. I took it for it's first drive and unfortunately I am not getting full throttle out of it. It takes off quick but then the power dials back.

The TCU has a program in it that limits engine output if the input torque to the transmission reaches a certain value. My transmission is holding my throttle closed.

It actually feels like it still has the V6 in it, especially when I am cruising along at 55 and I floor it. Taking off from a dead stop produces some tire spin and loud exhaust, but it quickly diminishes.

I will dive into the TCU coding through DAS and see if something can be changed. I have also been told that the TCU from a V8 transmission is a drop in and should work.

I love the way the car rides with the new tires and shocks. I have a test drive loop that is about 18 miles and it will put suspension through its paces. Car feels much more solid.

I'm going to drive it to work tomorrow, 70 miles round trip. The patch of I-5 I drive to work has fresh asphalt, some grooved concrete, and rutted asphalt. I will get a much better feel of the suspension and tire improvements.

Congratulations. Words fail me. Quite an accomplishment on a limited budget and very do-able.

Wow, quite the turnout!!

Thanks a lot guys, I'm in better spirits now. I took a chance with this engine and am ecstatic that it runs as good as I was hoping it would.

The thing that actually made it start was the transfer of the security file from the 5P08C eeprom. The file was modified along the way and if anyone needs an ECU that is turn key..... I know a guy. LOL, most of you guys probably do too. He is an active member of the forum and has also been following this swap. I want to give a big shout out to Josh, Andrew, and Jim. It was pretty much a collaboration between the three to solve the issue I was having with No Start.

That being said, this could have been running 3 weeks ago. We didn't know, Drive authorization failure was not a problem that Josh had encountered in the past. We recruited some more help and got it figured out, so now that we know, anyone considering the swap who reads this thread will know as well.

I will continue to keep this thread updated as I am far from being done. Next will be solving the regulation of throttle input from the TCU (actually it's called the TCM and will call it that from now on). A few things can be done with this.... I can keep the stock transmission and have Eurocharged build a custom tune for my TCM or I can install a V8 transmission and V8 TCM. I'm told the gear ratios in the V8 transmission are different, my guess is that the gearing takes better advantage of the increase in low end torque the V8 provides.

I have a couple of GoPros that I used to fly with, I will dig one out and get the battery charged up and see about creating a YouTube video. That will be a weekend project.

Anyways, thanks again guys. I'm on my way out to the shop to double check all of the fluids and play around in DAS for a while.

Just had a close call. Took it for a test drive after modifying some of the coding, my usual 18 mile test drive trip.

On my way back into town, about a 1/4 mile from the house and it died. Luckily I was still doing about 35 miles per hour so I was able to get off the road and into a parking spot at a furniture store in town.

Tried to restart, would crank but no fire. Tried that a half dozen times with no improvement. Luckily I still had my laptop and MUX in the car so I booted into DAS..... Crankshaft Position Sensor!!! Probably why the ML55 I pulled the engine from wound up in the wrecking yard.

Anyways, waited about 20 minutes, went ahead and did a sensor adaptation reset, it fired up and I got it back home and in the shop.

Next stop.... AMAZON!! I'll order a Crank sensor and Cam sensor to be safe. Amazon has the Bosch sensors, which I purchased and replaced in my other XF within a week of purchase.

Working out the bugs!!

Jared
