And on another note, this thing is done!! Plugging the knock sensor in cured the no/low power issue.

Just got back from scaring the crap out of my wife on the test drive!!

This is the second quickest car I have ever been in (my buddy Scott has a Viper, it's faster)

I am going to end this this thread by thanking Josh Chase for the ECU work, Andrew for his contribution to the ECU work and the countless tips he has given me along the way, and Jim in PA for consulting with Josh about the issues I was initially having.

Thank you all for following along!! This was certainly worth the wait..... I still have a smile on my face!!

This thing is fast!! Now I want to go find an SRT-6 to outrun!!

Take care and stay healthy!!!

Not counting routine maintenance items, right at $3500 including the car. It was running and driving at $3200, but needed the TCU tune from Eurocharged.

Thanks!!

Did that include selling unwanted parts?

No, I still have all of the V6 parts.

I would like to find another car that needs a 3.2. The V6 I pulled out runs too good to go to scrap.

Sent another email to Sean at Eurocharged….. now I'm really upset with them.

I mentioned that the transmission doesn't shift as firm as I thought it would after the tune...…. come to find out, they didn't "tune" anything in my TCU.... All they did was raise the torque limits.

Seriously...… $300 to raise the torque limits?? I was under the impression I was getting exactly what was listed on the website.

He apologized for the confusion, but now I have to send it back and waste more money on shipping.

And because of CV, I have to wait a couple of weeks.

Amazing!
You got a great deal on the car and engine, I wonder what it might cost for someone less fortunate to do.
Hopefully we will see a string of these mods over time.

I bought the car because it was cheap and I wanted it.... no other reason. I would have still bought it even if I wasn't planning the swap.

If someone already has a car that's paid for, I think it could be done for $2500 - $3000 depending on where you find your engine.

As far as my engine goes, that was pure luck!! I happened to mention I was thinking about an M113 swap to a guy at work who is big into MB, and he told me about the ML55 the wrecking yard had set out the day before. He told me it wasn't wrecked and I initially said "screw it, I'm not pulling an unknown engine out of a vehicle that isn't wrecked". I decided it would be worth the drive and to inspect it as thoroughly as I could..... and I got lucky. If you remember, I had originally planned on putting it in my red 6spd XF. This could have gone bad... it could have had a rod knock or wrist pin rattling, or some other unknown and invisible damage.

Many stars aligned to pull off the swap the way I wound up pulling it off..... maybe it was fate?? Don't know. I do know that it was definitely worth the time and effort.... this is the fastest car I have ever driven. I'm thinking about how I want to go about making a video for YouTube that I can share with everyone.

Nobody who does this swap will regret it. Definitely find a 5.4 if you can. I think the thing that has surprised me the most (besides the acceleration), is the exhaust noise. I'm still running all 4 cats and the stock muffler. When I stomp on this thing, it makes and incredible roar out the rear that I could only compare to an afterburner. It's incredible the way this thing attacks all of your senses at WOT. Can't wait to get my Needswings cat delete mid pipe. I'm keeping the OEM muffler.

Took my '88 C4 roadster out last night..... no comparison. The XF would leave it in the dust.

Why does the CV affect the delivery date so much?

I ordered something on Amazon last Saturday. Before I hit the ORDER button delivery was stated as Monday just as you would expect from Prime. I just checked on it and it now says delivery is THIS Saturday... but it still hasn't shipped. That tells me the delivery infrastructure in this country is under more than a little strain! It could be because of all the "unseen freight" carried by thousands of passenger plane flights which got cancelled.

Eurocharged is in Houston.

Houston is under order to stay home. Eurocharged won't be open for 2 weeks.

do you watch the news at all? It's been all over the news that Amazon is restricting sales to critical items only. Which means if you buy a phone case or something else arbitrary from a 3rd party seller, it could take a month to get it.

I've got a few more things I will do to the car, but the only performance oriented addition will be the cat free mid pipe, and I was thinking about a CAI. Not real sure on the CAI though, I like the look of the MB engine cover and may just leave it alone.

The other things will be for appearance only. I want to have the wheels restored, and there are a few dings and smaller dents that would come out with some Paintless Dent Removal. Front bumper could use some paint touch up. I bought the silver paint and CC to fix the windshield trim and door handles..... that will be done when the weather gets warmer.

New seat cover on the drivers side will come eventually.

I NEEDS the windshield replaced. It still has the factory glass in it, which is not cracked but it has 183,000 miles of wiper scratches and smaller chips. It looks like it was sand blasted.

It's been fun so far!!!

Jared

I have been watching this daily. I love it when a plan comes together! You may want to give Safelite a all on the windshield. They came to my house and did a very good job. Total cost was around $225. Congrats on your project.

Safelite is a great idea. Can't say that I have had a bad experience with them, but a very annoying situation with them.

I set up a windshield replacement for my '88 Vette online, they gave me the quote and when they would be to the house to replace it (was like 10 days out), and then called me 2 days before they were supposed to show up and said they couldn't do it because none of their suppliers had the rubber gasket that goes all the way around the pillars and across the roof line. The gasket (molding as they call it) is available, but none of THEIR suppliers carried it anymore. I had already requested the day off work by this time. Annoyed.....

I may give them another shot.... thanks.

Congratulations Jared!

I hope Eurocharged will do good by you and fix the transmission thing.

But very well done. Very inspiring! Makes me very comfortable going into my own swap. Once this CV thing clears I will definitely follow in your footsteps. Thanks for all the info and inspiration.

Looking forward to the video.
