Default locks itself after 60 seconds

I changed the alarm siren today for the Mercedese one that chirps. Now my car locks itself after 60 seconds. It there a setting for that? Any ideas?

Well, now I know who YOU are, Douglas!

(He posted this on Facebook and we answered him, for those reading this here.....)

My Response:
Exactly what sequence of events are leading to the doors automatically locking.
If you lock the car, then unlock the car and DO NOT open the door, the system autolocks, this is not a function of the siren, it's function of the CLP/SSM

It is common for people to test their new siren and make this happen - think about it, how often do you unlock the car remotely, then stand there and NOT get into the car and drive off?

bmccubbin:
If you unlock the car but don't open a door it will self lock the car. It's a safety feature on the Crossfire, from factory. It's to prevent accidentally unlocking car and walking away, not knowing that you unlocked it.

Yep, I have owned crossfires since 2006, changed other alarms, and never realized that. Lesson learned. Thanks to all for the responses.

I realized this years ago when on the way to the Dragon we parked and ran in for something to eat
I locked my car as usual then Frank said he needed something from my car during a thunderstorm so I unlocked it with the remote and saw the lights flash while inside the restaurant and Frank ran out in the rain only to come back in soaking wet and say "I thought you unlocked the car" and I said "I did" but he didn't get to the door soon enough to open it and it self locked him out while he was being rained on.
Seems this will happen in about 30 seconds after unlocking it with the remote if ya don't open a door
