Wrecked My Car!!!!
Wrecked My Car!!!!
So on Tuesday morning I was going to work and slid down an icy hill into an intersection where a Peterbuilt pulling a bobtail was passing. I managed to get slowed down and almost missed it, but caught the last axle with the nose up to the front wheel. no injuries or anything, other than to my car baby. Insurance hasn't gotten back to me yet, but I have a feeling they are going to try to price everything as a regular Crossfire with 103,000 miles. I'm going to fight that they fix it because it is what it is and a rare color. What is the best information to bring the insurance company to make sure that either I can get it fixed or get the full value of a SRT6?

Expect the car to be totaled, based upon the photo. They do not LOVE your car, like you do. This is strictly a business decision and their diagnostic procedures used to make a decision. I've seen less damage on a Crossfire that insurance companies total without any mercy toward your love for the car. DON'T ACCEPT THE FIRST OFFER!
Good Luck....

Re: Wrecked My Car!!!!
Actually Illinois has some pretty good laws in this area. My escape was totaled last December. I had to go through the process. If they total you will have to provide listings from dealerships within 200 miles of like vehicles. Private party listings are not accepted. They will have to cover taxes and some DOC fees. If you cannot come to an agreement you have the option of demanding they replace the vehicle. I did not choose this option so I do not know how difficult it would be to get this done.
Of course they are insurance companies so they will low ball you. Just keep your cool and negotiate calmly. It will be harder for you than me. You will be dealing with your own insurance they will not be getting reimbursed from another insurance company. If you have Allstate good luck even getting calls returned.

Glad you are OK. That's tough but think up. Manlaw38 is right, but you need to persevere by building up a list of asking and sale prices of like SRT6's. Not certain what insurance company you have but having an 'agreed value' policy with a carrier, usually a collector car insurance carrier, does tend to minimize the 'fight' of establishing market value to make you 'whole' again.
Good luck on saving her or getting compensated to replace her.

Get a good settlement and then say you want the car as well if you can store it somewhere to strip it, the parts are worth quite a bit. The windshield surround alone is worth $300 to $400. Or maybe you sell the car to someone else to strip.
You can strip parts off and send the carcass to a wrecker in a few weeks. Just an idea.

Thanks for another SRT6 loss, it will be added to the Branded Title database, as well as the SRT6 VIN database. It will appear at the next update.
Thanks....
