Default changing spark plugs

My SRT-6 has 105K on it and I don't believe the plugs have ever been changed. Are there any tricks I should know before doing this? Are there any special concerns about removing the coil packs? Is there a trick to loosening the spark plugs and should I use anti seize on the new ones before installing? I'm a little concerned with them coming loose from the aluminum heads. Is there a trick for removing the plug wires? I've done plugs many times before however not on an SRT-6. Any shared wisdome would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Zeracer I did this recently, It was not hard . I used a set of the right angle needle nose pliers I bought at harbor freight there is a tool that looks like an open end wrench that is offset to pop off each wire just be careful to pop each one off as you may know this car has 12 spark plugs I took each plug out they looked original and cleaned them with a wire bush on a dremmel tool and took some wet dry sand paper to clean and make sure the gap was on spec took me about an hour to do I took each of the bank of electronic spark control modules coil packs and layed them aside on top of engine each wire has its own spark plug make sure you remember where each spark plug goes there are videos on youtube on this. While you have this all apart you may as well check the upper valve cover gaskets and lightly tork the big valve cover down I mean very lightly the (( top covers have aluminum screw with hex tops takes these out gently and throw them away and buy the steel ones because if you reuse or tork them they will break off )). For the top gasket material I used for the little egr covers is the high temp liquid gasket its red and you must clean the old gasket material out being careful not to have any of it fall inside the timing chain area . You only need a small bead make sure it goes inside the grove of the small cover . Make sure you let it set over night and then you can tork it down to specs. I haven't had a leak yet and reusing the spark plugs runs like a champ. . My car may have had plugs changed at some point since I bought car used your plugs could be worse .Hope this help you . I did it so can you. Good luck

Why would you bother to put the plugs back where they came from unless they had been matched to the best firing position.?
With that mileage on them new plugs would be a wise choice.
There are instructions on this forum on how to seal those little covers and the correct sealant to use, not just any RTV sealant is to be used, colours may vary.

Well to answer your question !! Since no one is a fan of mine !! I get more neg remarks than positive ones. Why not say that's nice or say did it work ok proud of ya for trying. Not everyone on this forum is a millionaire like some here with 3 Crossfires sitting in a heated garage lololo. I do what can afford to do . I don't ask many for help here and I'm learning as I go plus the plugs didn't look all that bad and saying these may have been replaced b4 I got car. It ran fine before doing this. So I decided to do what I wanted to do. You know ya get more bees with honey than ya do with vinegar. ; )

I was commenting on your answer to the OP which is not quite correct on some points.
It appears that anyone who has different ideas to you has to be attacking you personally, not so as the world is made up of people who’s ideas are quite different to yours.

Point taken !! That's what makes the world an interesting place. We as humans try many things it worked for me. I may not know everything and do not claim to. But my experience with doing what I did did not negatively compromise the cars performance. I did get a throttle body from a 2001 Mercedes V8. E class and in the Spring may try to install it according to your directions. onehundred80 is there a number on the throttle body I should look for. To see if it will work ? Appreciate the positive input. To be honest I have admired your input and read many of your posts and fixed many problems on my car thanks to your posts .thank you !! Seriously. Thank you !! : )

I knew people who feel no pain these days, many were younger than I, pain reminds us old-timers we are the lucky ones.
I look in the mirror and for an instant wonder who that old git is.

LOL ..Well my new friend I again sorry for being so touchy grouchy and am glad I have you on my side with doing these repairs. I was outside just now after coming back from my fav sandwich shop and started the car it sounds like a new car. Its cold outside buurrr. I love Canada but way to cold for me I hate where I am now in Maryland its super hot in summer and bitter cold in winter lolo I used to be able to stand the cold but now with this severe condition cold bothers me more . Again thank you guys for your help with this neat little car . I am a proud owner of a blaze red 6 speed coupe which needs some work but at least its on the rd now. But perhaps not driving it to much in winter due to the salt icy roads . This little car is loved again ; )
