Default Tool in trunk

Am curios ‘cause I don’t have a clue what this tool is used for. Was cleaning out the trunk on my Coupe, checking for any dampness/moisture (none found) and noticed this tool in the well. It has this printed on it: A 193 899 02 80

Pics follow.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

That's the tool used for manual operation of the convertible top; the pointy end is used for removal of the lower grille pieces. It should be kept available in the glove box, or in the net between the seat backs.

Why do morons put that tool in the TRUNK?

(Not directed at the person who found it there, directed at the person who PUT it there.)

Actually, Jim, you drive a coupe. In Coupes, it CAN be in the trunk, but in a ROADSTER leaving that in the trunk is the most stupid thing you can do.
I'd still put it up front, in case you must use it to get out of Park when electronics fail!

There is a tool available for about $20, it is mainly for the roadster as it has the 6mm Allen key attached to it.
This tool pops up a lot here. Search for ‘tool, ala_xfire mentions it a lot.

The tool used to release the pressure would be the two appendages next to your thumb; use one of them to hold the switch down and pressure should release. If it will not, (and if the PTCM is confused, it wont) then using your two fingers to yank the pump fuse, that will release the pressure.

The tool in question is used to unlock and/or lock the tonneau lid latch during manual operation.

Full manual instructions here:

Thank you all for responding! Papa Jerry, think I’ll keep it as among other things I can open a good Canadian beer with it as well.

see the thread at the bottom off mine where back in ‘04 kusheen llisted all of what you guys said plus opening beer.

its interesting that a screw driver will accomplish all these things except the convertible top lowering

Thank you all!!

Regards,
