A battery that farts can't be all bad :
At the same time, the flatulence generated by the battery is not obvious, Affect its life.

Mine has been working great for my stereo, I got busy and didn't order more in time, I wanted several more.

EDIT: Sorry, finally getting through all this. I see they're gone now. But lets still consider the below:

Here is the question I have:

What is the standard capacity of a good deep cycle marine battery that's the same size as a regular car battery? (Group 24 is it??). I know we have a deep cycle we carry around (about 50 pounds) in Canada in our fishing trips and everyone does paper, scissors, rocks to see who has to haul not one but TWO of these damn heavy batteries for the trolling motor (We have two boats)... Super small (Think 12' row boat) 12V trolling motor, nothing crazy, only 45LBS of thrust tops.

So my questions are this:

How much $ does that 10 pound setup in that (plastic?) ammo can?
Will it be water tight? I ask cuz we fish rain or shine baby!!
Can I use my regular NOCO G7200 charger to charge it? - Here is my charger - https://no.co/products/charging/multipurpose/g7200

Assuming that the 10 pound guy has = greater capacity of a standard deep cycle marine battery and the price is right I'll take 4 please!

Okay, one more reply here.

Based on that link from 2 years ago (This one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lithium-***...orig_cvip=true )

For an 88AH battery (This is what I'm comparing to): https://www.interstatebatteries.com/...ategoryid=true - 27D group - 50.3LBS:

You'd take 5 cells and wire together. On the high side you'd get 14V and at a 1.9V being the stopping point you'd be at 9.5V on the low side. This is basically an 11AH "12V battery".

Then times that by 8 to get you 88AH = 40 packs at $10/pack = $400.

Yes, VERY VERY expensive. 3.33 times the cost... but if my math is right on weight you'd be at 32.5LBS VS a 50LB lead acid deep cycle...

To the OP: Can we work out a deal if I buy a total of 80 of these batteries? I could wire it myself but would rather have you do it since you've done it before and you'd probably do it better than me anyways.

Thanks!

the cells i put in my cars and boats have sold out . Let me try and answer some questions . A group 24 has about 75ah capacity , your not suppose to drain below 50% but most people go further so lets say you get 50ah useable and it weighs 50lbs . I just built a set of lithiums for my new boat , i used the very common / safe lithium called Lifepo4 , will post a picture . These are 65ah cells that you can use 55ah . They are rated for 2,000 cycles . They weigh 20lbs assembled . It takes 4 of these cells to make a 12v battery and you can use your current charger . The guy sells them for about $60/cell with hardware .And you would need a $40 balancer . I just installed 2 sets of these . But to do this requires some electrical knowledge to set up . You can get similar lithium cells from many suppliers , since you are in canada , that might be better .

If you dont want to build your own , the prices on complete batteries are coming down and worth a look .

This is what they look like assembled . The silver box on the right is the balancer . The long white wire is for me to check them in the beginning once installed , i will eventually remove it . The cells and balancer are all sealed but i would put them in a battery box . This would protect them and make it easier to transport .

Hey,

I'm in the US in Illinois, Canada is where we go fishing is all

I was going to take 120 18650's and build a system similar to this:

However, now that I see this it would be far easier to use the Lifepo4 batteries and cheaper too.... $60 * 40 packs = $240. Not worried about getting a balancer and I'm very proficient with soldering, etc etc.

What kind of amperage output would this battery be able to pump? The trolling motor I have is this guy which is 42 amps at full blast and recommends a 50A fuse - Minn Kota Endura C2 - 40LBs thrust, 36" shaft - 1352240 is the model number: https://minnkotamotors.johnsonoutdoo...ra-c2?id=13681

Thanks!

They are rated for continuous 3c , which is 65 X 3 =195a so your good there . These come with hardware , it is a 5 minute , screw together job . The only hard thing is you have to balance them . Unless you have the right balance / charger it's difficult to do . Also one of the things that will shorten your battery life is cell getting out of balance . I can get you the links for a couple different balancers that will take care of them and they are cheap .

The sellers name is Dave , email is barbjb@acegroup.cc . let him know you know me (mike)

Well AH is capacity, not amperage for how many amps you can draw from it. I found the below and they are local to me in IL:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/K2-Energy-K...IAAOSwaEZccFCa

I'd think these would work no?

Yes, I'd take some links for chargers/balancers if you don't mind

Thanks!

Quick update on the charger I was eyeing:

I just called Noco and they said that that G7200 would work fine for the bank of 4 Lifepo4 batteries but if it was at 10% remaining capacity it would take 11 - 12 hours to recharge it.

I asked about a balancer and the lady said that with that charger a balancer isn't needed??? This can't be right is it??

Thanks!

Another update. I'm heading out to that local shop I found on Ebay here to see what I can do. Will report back later.

Thanks!

Meant to put amps not amp hours. They can do up to 195 amps continuous. So your 49 amps is no big deal. Those K2 cells are great cells. K2 probably makes the best lithium iron cells available

Well that is great news cuz I just bought 4 of them and have them in my possession now

question: 195 amps from ONE pack or 48.75 amps per pack with 4 wired together = 195A?

Thanks!

These: https://www.ebay.com/itm/18369931168...MakeTrack=true

I'm getting the charger and balancer from David too. Thanks for that

Crazy small world that we are talking about these batteries on our AMG Crossfire forms page... What are the odds? LOL

Ohh I know... This is why I literally uprooted my work day to get 4 of them.... Tempted to go buy 4 more....

I found this bad boy too to put em in. But it's not tall enough . With the big jumpers between the packs I'll need 9.75" minimum but 10" of depth to be comfy...

However there is this too but no internal dimensions can be located: https://minnkotamotors.johnsonoutdoo...y-power-center

Thanks!

The dimensions of the 4 batteries as they sit with this picture are as follows:

9 & 5/8" long x 5 & 7/16" wide x 8.75" tall (to top of terminal without bridge wires installed)

My positive wires and the tab melted off of my cells
And my cells bundled up are ALOT thicker than they are supposed to be.
Guess the onstant charging and discharging building up heat, but had to take it out.

I'm wondering if this melt down could have been caused by NOT having a balancer incorporated in your battery. I do not know how to set up such a "balancer" or what is the specs for one if needed for our cars. Any input/info would be appreciated.
