How to remove lower bolster...
...on the driver's side dash? I noticed that there were two (amazingly) phillips head screws. So how hard could it be? I removed the screws but the bolster seems as if it is glued in.
Is it a pressed fit and needs lots of pulling from underneath?
I need to install a largish switch and need to see if there is room for it.
What is inside the plastic gizmo under the steering shaft? Just curious. I removed its cover in case there was a fastener for the bolster.

Maz, yes, that is the part. It certainly appeared as if it was a separate part (the area where your knee is). How long did it take you to remove the parts to be able to remove the panel?
I try to add my car info unless I feel the item I'm referring to is the same on all cars. I had no idea there were knee airbags. I have a 2007 Ltd. Coupe and aren't aware of it having a knee airbag. But my daily driver now is a 2005 SRT-6 Coupe.
Thank you all - but I would like to know roughly how long it takes to remove the panel.

How to remove lower bolster...
Valk, thanks for the 'how to remove the bolster' write-up and photos.
As it turns out if I mount the switch on the bolster area, there isn't enough room behind for the switch, housing, contacts, and female spade connectors. The area of the bolster most likely I'd use (directly under the ignition switch) is about 1 1/4". I need 1 5/8".
So my question is there enough additional room behind the main housing (roughly) 1/2" in the area below the ignition switch? (Ummm, it just occurred to me that position is just about where my knee would land if I slid under the three point belt in an accident. That's about where it hit in a long ago crash in my Alfetta GT).
As long as I'm rambling, are there any good + contacts (need two) in the very general area of that switch position?
A photo of that area with the cover off would be great.
