Default How about the 5.5 SC V8 swap?

Anyone but amx1397 do this swap? Engines are not that costly but how easy is the swap? I have a strong V6 with 85k miles to sell afterwards with good mods, just want an 11.5 second ride. Don't think the V6 can do it as I have not seen anyone post that number. mark

It's really easy, just send the car to me. When you get it back, you'll be low 11s or even into the 10s if you want to take your build that far.

Oh, and like I've told everyone, the engine is the cheapest part of the conversion.

Rudy is right
He is the man to do your V8 conversion He has done several now and knows all the stuff to do it right
Put your Crossfire in his possession and when you get it back your perma grin will be even bigger !!!!
Sounds like he is ready to start another conversion so go for it.
I know several others he has done and they remain happy for years now

I believe I read it is about $20,000 about 50/50 in parts and magic to get it all to work.

My car is perfect example, I have not change pulleys or tune after I got the car back and I run a 11.656 with a crappy driver, so-so track prep, and a 245/40/18 drag radial on the rear. Change any one of the 3 and you will get 11.5 no problem.
I have drove 13 hours to the fall dragon twice and multiple other long distance events. Going on 6 years with the engine installed, 40,000KM's and the only issue I recall is needing a new power steering line which rubbed on the head of a bolt and wore through. Quality rear tires are a must. Power is no good if you cant get it to the ground. Look for a rating of UTQG: 200 A A or better.
NO buyers remorse so far!
No weight reduction, full trunk stereo, all parts are in the car and working other than the cruise. Race ready all day every day.

There are a few cars with a V6 that went 11.5 or better, but it takes nitrous. A quick look at dragtimes will show you that. The most important thing to consider is that driver mod.

I can't imagine driving a crossfire with as much power as amx's has. AMX how does your crossfire drive on the street with that much power if you push it? I feel like you'd be doing tons of wheel spinning on street tires. What size tires are you running?

Sweet- For 20k you could sell the slk32 and buy a slk55 and get one of these tuners like weistec to put a SC on for you. You'd probably have about the same power as the slk32 with the SC v8.

Ok I do us my car as a DD most of the time ,,,Hankook 275/35-19
My wife does drive it sometimes to go grocery shopping, I just remind her to stay out of full throttle.
on the highway my car goes from 80 to 140 in 7 seconds,,( just don't try to change lanes .
I get between 8,000 to 15,000 on the rear tires, it depends on what i am doing, driven to the dragon twice.
the only failure i have had is a cracked ( at key-way) crank pulley,,oil leak, creaked pulley let me find it,before that that not even a oil leak.
I change the oil every 3 months don't even care of miles .
on the street it drives like a dream,,,when a smart *** kid (camaro, mustang, gtr ,c63 and others,, I scare the hell out of them because when i jump on it ,,i jump anywhere from 1 to 4 car length in front of them. most of the time they just show thumbs up and turn at the next street some pull up any yell what the f** you have in that thing. , all of Rudy's V8 swap members would do it again,it is the most enjoyable car i have ever owned,,what i mean is ,any muscle car you are expected to be fast, but a crossfire " what the F*** do you have in that,,, on the forum, a lot of our members with a modded srt6 get,, what i am saying as they get the same WTF when they out run gtr's , challengers, and other muscle cars. jim

And in this swap you retain the factory instrumentation? I often wonder about this in some swaps like a Viper engine in an S2000 or a Gen III Hemi in a Prowler. Something simple as the check engine light, how do you accommodate this? Or do you have to have a device plugged in all the time to the OBD port?

These aren't chopped together swaps with autometer gauges and a rats nest of wiring all cobbled together. They are constructed in a manner that even techs at Benz and Chrysler dealerships have had trouble noticing the cars had a completely different drivetrain in them. Also, every one of my V8 swaps will pass OBD inspection and the ones still with factory cats have passed visual and sniffer as well. I even have one in Canada that has passed with flying colors!

I had the pleasure to see the first one in 2010 at the Dragon and there was not one part that looked hacked, all parts looked OEM.
Later I had the opportunity to ride in Beaners one for a good ride. It was inspiring to say the least.
