It's not the only option. The parts store showed a Bosch ($$$) Valeo ($$x$$) and their Carquest alternator with lifetime warranty. But, the Bosch and Carquest came with the 6 rib pulley. We pulled the 6 rib off and put my 8 rib on but it protruded more than normal. That was enough for me to go for a stock alternator to be sure offset for the serpentine belt was correct.

Understood. I have found the Valeo from $250 to $850( Mercedes Dealership) for a stock replacement and nobody has it in stock so had to order it. Of course we figure this out after we have the car pulled apart!. Glad this thread was going to catch me up quick.

Post #12 shows the correct pulley, you do not even mention the Chrysler or Mercedes part number. Use the Valeo number only.
The Valeo numbers are in the right hand column of the sheet.

Is this the correct alternator for the SRT 6? The one that showed up at the auto parts store today is the wrong one so I am ordering it myself, but would like someone to double check me since this seems to be more difficult than I could of imagined! )

The numbers match the bottom one in the pic below (A439420), so yes that is the one.
Eight grooves in the pulley is what you need and it has that as well so you are good to go.
