Default Idle Control Issue

Hello everybody, I'm new to this forum I'm not sure how active this website is stiil...

I purchased a Crossfire Srt 6 recently in October, and It came with a valve cover gasket issue that was then fixed by the dealer free of charge. However, there was check engine light that came up soon after I drove it out of the repair shop. I then had a rough idle and rpm fluctuation ... I took it back and they have the nerve to tell me the issue is unrelated to the valve cover gasket which I find it hard to believe since it didn't have the issue prior to the valve cover gasket replacement. He then said he couldn't fix it due to not having a "special machine", he then told me to go to chrysler dealer so they can help me. His english was not very well but he told me about a throttle body and miscommunication with engine when you press on the gas pedal. I know there have already been some threads about this in the past and perhaps none of you can tell me exactly what it is, but the dealer said its an idle control issue and threw a number out there ... told me it was going to cost $5000 to fix ...is this true?

Any help would be appreciated

So yeah thats how my username was born: XFIRERUINEDMYHOLIDAY

welcome !
1. probably a vacuum leak, check the 2 small hoses from the valve cover caps running to intake.
They took these off to repair the oil leak, and at 10 yrs old they get brittle and usually crack/split if you mess with them.
Get some vacuum hose from AutoZone / Advance / OReilly / NAPA
2. if it IS a throttle body issue, the TB on the SRT6 is the same as on any MB V8, or the SLK32.
You can pick those up on eBay or a junk yard for @ $50-$70 all day.

May want check your coil packs as well, just incase the plug wires may have been inadvertently disconnected, or not seated properly into coil pack after completing their service.

Your Crossfire didn't ruin your holiday - it sounds to me that a DEALER did.

Taking a Crossfire to a Chrysler dealer usually results in a "Dr Phil" moment - don't do it.

I'd almost bet MONEY on a vacuum leak.

Sounds like a TPS sensor issue, either from the throttle body or the gas pedal. I've seen the pedal fail and cause limp mode like problems. Either part can be found relatively cheap and are fairly simple to install.

Hello Everyone, Thank you all for replying!! I went to an indie MB dealer and they said it was a vacuum leak from the intake gasket manifold. They said they will charge $1500 for the job. Is this a DIY or not? And are there any dangers not having this fixed asap?

intake gasket manifold
Intake manifold gaskets ?
I watched RMaier replace his in the parking lot at Eureka Springs in the rain.
All he needed was some new gaskets ( which he had with him ) and some copper Permatex sealant ( which I picked up at O'Reillys for him )

Gasket Sealants : Permatex® Copper Spray-A-Gasket® Hi-Temp Sealant

I agree it is an easy job. I took one off just to see if it was oily inside, it was as clean as a whistle. Before I did it I purchased a new set of gaskets. The old gasket remained stuck to the engine, so I wiped it down and put the intake back on. No trouble with leaks, but I would try to use a torque wrench like I did to do it correctly. I did not use anything to improve the seal, just metal to metal like when it was made.
